This is the refill that Cross puts in its SelecTip pens and I have acquired a lot of them. My experience is the same with each pen, and it is not pretty.Skips. Smearing. Bleeding across the paper. A terrible experience. The Cross jumbo ballpoint refill is decent. This one is not.

I got a cross pen as a gift and quickly needed refills.
When I try to write on certain kinds of paper, such as notepads from staples, the pen occasionally skips and I have to rewrite certain things at least 10 times/page. This gets irritating, and I was ready to give the item 1 star. But before doing so, I googled "how to unstick a ball point pen" and ehow gave me a nice solution: Tap the ballpoint of the pen on a hard surface. Now it is much better, but still skips a couple of times per page. It is ironic that a pentel pen with liquid gel ink, that I got for $1, works much more smoothly and does not skip at all...

I have a Cross pen, and it USE to work great, when I originally bought it. However, ever since I got my first refill, it seems the pen would not flow quite as well after extensive use. I'd have to leave it alone for a while before it would start flowing well again. Don't know if it was the particular batch I got or what. I've opened one package and after this refill, I'll open another package. Hopefully, I just got a bad batch.
