The ideal baby gifts project book would include simple designs in eye-catching baby-pleasing colors, a mixture of quick-to-stitch and more ambitious projects and design motifs that may be mixed and matched. This book includes all these elements and would be an excellent purchase for public libraries. Projects include a fetching teddy-bear quilt, rabbit and bear T-shirts, and a dinosaur toy bag, all with photographs of the finished items, color charts, and step-by-step instructions. Surprisingly few cross-stitch books focus on babies but fortunately this is one of them. As both a godmother of a 1-year-old toddler and an expectant mom myself I found this book helpful when deciding what to stitch as a gift or for your own baby's wardrobe and nursery.

Whether you are an almost beginner like me or "a semiprofessional" there's a lot to choose from simple designs for socks and t-shirts to lively wall decorations and celebration samples. There are also suggestions for varying and adapting these clear and beautiful designs, which broadens their usability. All the charts are colored and matched with DMC threads, added with easy-to-follow instructions.

I would have given even five stars if there had been more of these baby designs - now something over 30 simply isn't enough for an enthusiastic cross-stitcher!

There are some cute patterns in this book. The charts are in color, but there is no use of symbols to distinguish the colors. I found it a bit difficult on some patterns to be sure which color to use.
