Ooooo nice..., December 26, 2004
Being a fan of Angel Sanctuary.. I was eager to find something else that had the same kind of... spiritual interaction? It's hard to explain, except to say that I took a chance on this manga and thoroughly enjoyed it. Most otherworld mangas tend to involve vampires.. I like angels and priests and people who incorporate mythology into it. I couldn't give it five full stars, because at a couple points it was a little confusing, and there are lots of footnotes for those of us (such as myself) who aren't christian or who don't have a full understanding of the in depth orders and christian "lingo". While certainly it pales in comparison to Angel Sanctuary(which if you haven't read it I would totally recommend it alongside the thousands of others who do!).. it's a nice read and I await the next few books.
So now the synopsis... basically, a young priest's destiny is to rid the world of demons. He's an excorsist. We open with a young girl whom he saves from occultists. He finds out that she's "God's medium" due to the fact that she has script popping up all over her skin whenever she's in danger (as you find out later)..
So that sets you up. It's obvious that there is some tension between them.. they are fast on the way to falling in love...
There is a beautiful side story (while the girl lives for a time in another city) in which he tries to save a girl under a terrible curse. This girl suffers in that whomever looks at her sees not her true form, but whoever they most love. Bascially she's a mirror that reflects whom we most desire her to be. I admit, I was near tears at the end of her scene... I don't want to spoil it, but let's just say that this girl's true form... well she has been living under the curse so long she's lost all track of time...
So.. my conclusion, if you want a nice read, go for it. I am awaiting the next few volumes eagerly.

A must have for manga fans, March 25, 2011
Sumiko Amakawa has woven a delightful tale of a priest with a
certain special ability; he can produce the Holy Cross from his forehead!
Takara Amakusa (also known by his code name "Cross") is a Catholic priest
who takes on commissions and exorcises demons. He helps out Shizuha Matsuri,
a beautiful woman who ends up being the heroine of the series.
She happens to have the Scriptura appear on her body, which leads to some
interesting situations.
The story only gets better from there. Plenty of tension between
Takara and Shizuha to appease any romanticist, along with lots of
horror action for those who seek it. Personally, I love the subtle
humor interwoven between the characters.
All in all, if one is a fan of horror, romance, humor, and lots of action,
then this is a definite must have. I loved it and would recommend it to anyone. :)

reminds me of..., December 25, 2007
This promises to be a very good manga. It reminds me of the Cain Saga and Godchild. I find it to be hard to put down. I just have to know what happens next. A must have for fans of Cain!
