A Kid's Review
This review is from: Cross Your Fingers, Spit in Your Hat (Hardcover)
This book was fun to read since I am a very superstisious person. It will also be very helpfull if I have a project or report to do on suerstitions. It is cool how the book tells about all the different curses andgood luck charms there are,Iwouldnt be surprised if most of them worked. All in all I would recomend this book to anyone that is superstisious.

This book is great! I'm 22 now and I remember reading this in the elementary school library. I'd check it out again and again. I always thought this book was a creepy and fun example of strange superstitions that people followed through history. It's a shame that it's out of print!

One of my favorite books when I was a kid, I just "remembered" it the other day when my sister & I were arguing about superstitions. We both had checked it out from the school library...25 years or so ago!I was able to find a copy, though it was out of print...thanks to Amazon's locater service!!

I first read this book in elementary school. My mom was the first one to check it our from our local library. I had the chicken pox and I think I read it over and over for about 2 weeks. It had the greatest illustrations and the stories were so creepy. I hear that it is out of print, what a shame. I want to get it for my niece and share the memories with her. A definate 5 star book

This book has so many of the "words-of-wisdom" that my grandmothers shared with me that I think somehow that they may have had a hand in writing it. ;-} I bought the book to share with my grandkids so we can laugh at "old-wives-tails" and fondly remember their great-grans.

I've collected books on superstitions my whole life, and I have a special place for this one since I got a copy in the 3rd grade about twenty years ago. I'd say this is the best book on the topic for children as it covers various areas and makes it interesting as well. The illustrations of Glen Rounds are often humorous and seem perfect for the general subject of folklore. There's quite a few books on superstitions written with children in mind, however what sets this book apart for me is the sources section in the back which can help explain where the belief came from and has some variations on it. Finally the bibliography certainly helped me discover other books on the topic, the author even notes which books are intended for children and which are more serious books on superstition, along with some commentary.
