American Impressionism became a national style at the turn of the century, prior to World War I. Janice Simon is a professor of art history in the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia. Charles Eldridge, former director of the National Museum of American Art, is the Hull Distinguished Professor of American Art at the University of Kansas.
