I can't complain about the durability of these sensors. I bought the original La Crosse weather station about 5 years ago while located in Texas. It has recorded temperatures as high as 113 degrees and since I moved to NJ 2.5 years ago, it has also recorded as low as 18 below. I'd say that's a pretty durable unit so had no qualms about buying a replacement when the original one quit recording humidity and bounced around on the temperature readings within short timeframes. I'm back and working now that I have this unit...I can't live without my weather station and the La Crosse is nice looking and works!

If you are looking for this to be very accurate, then you need to use the lithium batteries. Because of the cold temps here, the cheaper batteries do not work as well. Maybe where it doesn't get in the minus temps, the Rayovac batteries will be okay, but not here in NE. The sensor needs to be put in a location, that is out of the sun, and out of reach of your pets, and children. Which makes for a little decision making time, on your part.

The TX4U Wireless Temperature and Humidity Sensor works great and has been very reliable in all kinds of weather, and is very accurate with both temperature and humidty measurements, based on calibrated standards that I have compared it too.

I received one with my La Crosse Weather Station and placed it on the east side of my dwelling. It provides a true reading unlike others I've used in the past. I plan on adding 1 or 2 more sensors for an even better reading.

I've had these for a few years. They are quite picky as to where you place them, at least with our stucco walls, or their signal doesn't reach the base station. I've had them fail to reach my station from as little as 10-15' away. Two TX4Us have died on me now. There will not be a third.
Any time the batteries expire in a sensor, or the station, you have to reset the station, which is a cumbersome process, and you lose all your historical data like high/low temperatures as well. I've always questioned the accuracy of my TX4Us. The inside base station does seem to be accurate though. I would not purchase a La Crosse weather station product again, based on my experience with this one.

How great is it to get up in the morning and instantly know the temperature and humidity outside your window. I love this thing. My other one stopped working and for months I suffered without it. For months I would just look out the window and wonder..."I wonder what it's like outside..." But now I know. My wife always says " Why don't you just open the door and go outside?" I did that for a while but it was like having a TV without a remote. Living in Orlando the humidity sensor gives you an idea or what you are about to face as you exit your home. Factor the humidity in with the temperature and you get that "Its 96 degrees outside but with humidity at 98% it feels like 115" . Know before you go.
This one replaced my old one and was a snap to set up. Since the mount was still on the wall I just synced it up to the base station and stuck in outside in the old mount. I looks great, works great, and I don't even have to get up to know what temperature it is outside. Ain't life grand!

I've gone through 2 of these sensors already. There's not going to be a third. The litany of excuses the company has for the sub-par performance of these things is long and exhaustive--unbelievable.
Ok, for the people that have just bought these and hooked them up and they work. Oh boy, it works, just like it supposed to do. I've been using this product for about 3-4 years and I've gone through 2 sensors. Basically if you want this to work right you have to have it out of the sun, out of the rain and in direct line of site to the base station not going through any walls and hopefully not going through any windows. Give me a brake! My suggestion; go with another brand!

My weather station was presented to me as a gift when I retired from Westinghouse (2004). It used this sensor to sense outdoor temperature and humidity and did so flawlessly during the years since. The sensor failed just last month (February of 2009). That's over 4 1/2 years of service. I found the sensor on Amazon.com, at a very reasonable price, so I bought it from them. It arrived quickly and installation was a breeze. With new batteries in both units my weather station with a new sensor is back on line. Thank you Amazon.com and La Crosse.

I bought this temperature/humidity sensor about a month ago and it is great so far. The vendor (weatherbuffs) shipped the product promptly and the packaging was fine. We placed the sensor next to the receiver unit and within an hour or two both the temp and humidity read almost the same on both units.

I owned two of these. The first one was purchased probably four years ago. The second one was added two years ago. Both are still functional, so I think this product does last pretty long. I tied one of them to the down spout near the front porch, which shields it from the direct sun in the summer. I think this gives a more meaningful temperature reading. The winter temperature in NJ can go down to the teens or sometimes single digit, and it has never been a problem. My second unit is in the basement, and I use it to monitor the humidity of the basement. Overall, I am satisfied with this product.
