4.0 out of 5 stars Great Product
The weather direct weather station was easy to set up, the instuctions were easy to follow. If I could change one thing about the weather station it would be how it displays the outdoor temperature. The outdoor temperature scrolls on the bottom of the screen, along with a written description of the weather report, and the name of the city the forcast is for. I don't...

2.0 out of 5 stars Forecast accuracy suspect
Owned this for about three weeks before returning it. I began to notice that the high/low forecasting was frequently significantly different than my local weather newscasts. Sometimes up to ten degrees. And this was short term forecasting....just a day or two in advance. I know that no person/service is completely accurate but this seemed to err more than I would...

I don't like that you have to wait for the outdoor temperature to show up. I would rather it was available on the display all of the time. So far, the weather reports have been quite accurate. Some of the "expandable" features that it lists in the product description are available only if you pay for a subscription. For example, you have to pay if you want to view forcasts for more than one location or want severe weather alerts. If you are only wanting to see the forecast for one location its not a problem. Overall, I'm very pleased with the product.

Edit: I'm not so pleased with this product anymore. It quit working after about 6 weeks and I haven't been able to get it working again. It turned out to be a waste of time and money.

Owned this for about three weeks before returning it. I began to notice that the high/low forecasting was frequently significantly different than my local weather newscasts. Sometimes up to ten degrees. And this was short term forecasting....just a day or two in advance. I know that no person/service is completely accurate but this seemed to err more than I would expect. I would have felt better about keeping it had I learned where 'Weather Direct' (the forecasting service) gets its information from. But, I found very little detail on this organization and I could not match its forecast against anyone else's. So, back it went. I think I'll try Bushnell. They get their data from Accu Weather and I have come to trust them.

I bought this just so I would know how to dress my kids for school...however, I was greatly dissapointed since the temperature forecasts are significantly off - sometimes as much as 10 to 15 degrees - and this is even for the current day. What a waste of money.

This was a gift after Christmas we called support over 20 times for days and never got an answer or sometimes a recording telling us the person we were calling was not available. Sent item back to Amazon. We have always been happy with Amazon but this Company is a joke! (not even one star)

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality Weather Station, January 9, 2009
This review is from: La Crosse Technology Weather Direct WD-3105U 4-Day Internet-Powered Wireless Forecaster, Titanium (Kitchen)
I returned this item because it didn't show present exterior temperature, and also the clamp fastener for the exterior sensor wasn't strong enough to hold the sensor in place, and also the outdoor sensor was not waterproof.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not as advertised, January 18, 2009
This review is from: La Crosse Technology Weather Direct WD-3105U 4-Day Internet-Powered Wireless Forecaster, Titanium (Kitchen)
I got this unit to use at a cabin. It said on the box "monitor backyard temp from anywhere in the world". I thought I could monitor the temp at the cabin. Well it doesn't do that at all! Very misleading! From the internet home page they give you it is possible to see the unit is alive and the battery is "GOOD" but no inside, outside temp or any weather data to be seen remotely. I tried contacting support but no luck getting a response from these people. They don't reply. Another reviewer said they think this is a future feature.

They need to change the advertising on the box and web site. If you just want to see the unit local, it does work. I don't like you have to wait for it scroll through a long display just to see the outside temp. Forcasts as seen local on the unit do seem to work.

This review is from: La Crosse Technology Weather Direct WD-3105U 4-Day Internet-Powered Wireless Forecaster, Titanium (Kitchen)
I liked this product at first, then it all went downhill. I have tried for 6 weeks to get an answer to the malfunctioning unit. I have emailed La Cross each week. I have called La Cross each week. They do not answer, just let you leave a message with a promise they will call back. It has been SIX WEEKS! NO CALL BACK from La Cross! Please, avoid their products!

This review is from: La Crosse Technology Weather Direct WD-3105U 4-Day Internet-Powered Wireless Forecaster, Titanium (Kitchen)
Same problems as everyone else. Temperatures are off usually by about 10 degrees. The forecast signal drops off on a regular basis and and reestablishing the wireless connection is voodoo. Just stick your hand outside and save your money on this waste of technology

1.0 out of 5 stars You'll be disappointed, June 26, 2010
This review is from: La Crosse Technology Weather Direct WD-3105U 4-Day Internet-Powered Wireless Forecaster, Titanium (Kitchen)
I got this for father's day to replace an older model that was unreliable in reporting the outside temperature from the wireless remote sender.

Well, this unit doesn't have a static display for the outside temp, and there is no way to configure it to do so. That's quite amazing since they highly promote their Internet service where you can configure your unit to report to whole world the temperature at your location. Ironically, you just can't easily get the temperature from the local display at your own house.

Further, the display has an annoying, stuttering, scrolling display of forecast info, so the designers assume you are willing to sit for a few minutes and watch the unit until the info you need scrolls by. With the quality of displays that people have become used to on their mobile phones and ebook readers, this unit's scrolling display reminds me of something from the '90s.

I find it hard to believe that a company can be that far out of touch with user expectations.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disillusionment day...by day...by day, April 6, 2009
This review is from: La Crosse Technology Weather Direct WD-3105U 4-Day Internet-Powered Wireless Forecaster, Titanium (Kitchen)
Having owned the Weather Direct 3105U for four months, I thought I had found a reliable weather forecasting product, but data streaming into the weather station from the Internet gateway began evaporating on a daily basis, starting with Day 4 to the current date. No amount of resets of the gateway or the weather station would correct the problem. I'm done with LaCrosse products and won't attempt to return it to the place of purchase.

A former experience with LaCrosse customer support on a previous, simpler weather station, would lead me to believe that any attempt at contact could take weeks or months before a response to the dilemma would be addressed.

Ordinarily a non-working product might get just one star, but in this case I'm opting for two stars because I'm still getting an accurate indoor temperature reading...but that's about it. Apparently some units work and others, like mine, simply poop out after a few weeks or months of use.
*********
NEW THOUGHTS: My weather station is back to working well again. The much maligned Technical Support of LaCrosse provided a remedy that involved deleting the Gateway and the Weather Station from the Weather Direct website and then performing a factory reset on both units. Once this was accomplished and the Gateway reregistered on the Weather Direct website, both pieces of hardware functioned normally. Supposedly the troubleshooting information was part of a knowledge database--a database that I and other LaCrosse users have not been able to locate. What caused the original days to gradually disappear and the weather station to lose communication with the Gateway still remain a mystery, however.
