5.0 out of 5 stars No major problems
I've had this for about a year and a half. When I first set it up it seemed a bit buggy but once it settled in (about 3-4 days)it worked great! I put the remote sensor (which is less than 2" square) under the soffit of my house.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not very accurate so what's the point?
The indoor thermometer is fairly accurate but it's not very quick to change. The manual states that it's updated every 10 seconds but I've found it to be more like 30 minutes.

The outdoor portion is even worse. It takes hours to adjust its temperature and so it's regularly off by 10-20 degrees. The other night it was 84 (by another thermometer) but the outdoor...

The outdoor portion is even worse. It takes hours to adjust its temperature and so it's regularly off by 10-20 degrees. The other night it was 84 (by another thermometer) but the outdoor reading said 107! A couple hours later it did come back down to the correct temp but that really doesn't matter does it. It needs to be accurate in real time.

I've had this wireles temperature station for about 2 months now and I'm very happy with it. I mounted the wireless sensor in my outdoor screened porch to both keep it dry and out of the direct sunlight (direct sunlight would likely result in innacurately high readings). The "base" station is usually in our kitchen, but for a while I moved it around different rooms of our house to see how much the indoor temperature varies from room to room - the outdoor sensor never "lost contact" with the base. The indoor temp reading is accurate and is within 1-2 degrees of 2 thermostats I have in the house, and the outdoor temp is accurate with 1-2 degrees of an outdoor mounted thermometer that is also in the screened porch. I enjoy the convenience of quickly and easily knowing what the outdoor temp is in the morning.

This product works as advertised and I'm very happy with it. Enjoy!

1.0 out of 5 stars The Weather Channel WS-7013TWC Wireless Temperature Station, February 16, 2006

Outdoor remote temperature sensor is not weatherproof. Instructions state "The remote temperature sensor should be placed in a dry, shaded area." The battery cover has slits in it that will allow water to enter the unit.

Hard to see how they call it an outdoor remote.

I purchased this item after seeing it at my sister's. She loved it, it was accurate and lasted a long time. The one I bought was more expensive than hers, it only worked for about 2-3 months and then stopped working. Maybe I just got a dud!

I own 2 of these now - one for nearly 3 years. Simple and reliable, I haven't had any issues with them. Even the batteries last for months before they need replacing. I do wish it had a back light for nighttime viewing. I still highly recommend this model!

1.0 out of 5 stars As unpredictable as weather, February 21, 2009

I purchased this unit as a replacement for one that lasted about two years. This unit lasted about two weeks. Both the transmitter and the receiver died.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lacross wireless thermometer, August 23, 2008
This review is from: La Crosse Technology Weather Channel WS-7013-TWC-IT-TCP Wireless Temperature Station (Kitchen)
This wireless outdoor thermometer has worked flawlessly so far. My old unit would constantly loss the connection between the transmitter and the base unit. The LCD display could be a little bigger(or it would be a 5 rating), it's hard to read at certain angles. All in all a great product at a ridiculously cheap price.

This is a very nice product, the only thing we did not like about it was the fact that the inside temperature was a little off but other than that it is a nice product.

1.0 out of 5 stars do not buy, January 4, 2007
By
This unit responds very slowly to changes in temperature.

I tested my unit and if The temperature changes 10 degrees (for example if the sun comes up), it takes over 1 hour for the unit output to change and show the 10 degree change.

Imagine needing to leave a thermometer in your kids mouth for 1 hour to measure his temperature!!!

Very slow response = useless for measuring temperatures which change
