4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Little Unit
I was unexpectedly surprised to see how easy it was to set up this temperature indicator. We have it sitting on a shelf and it's fairly attractive. It reads out to a tenth of a degree F., which is kind of strange since the specs only guarantee accuracy to within +/- one degree F. But, it still gives you a good idea of conditions outside. 3.0 out of 5 stars replacement temperature station
This station is a replacement for one I've had for a little over 1 year. The station is great except that the parts don't last too long. I had the transmitter stop functioning after 8 months (covered by warranty) and the receiver stopped functioning after 13 months (not covered by warranty). I've been disappointed by the endurance of the product but happy with the product...

The mounting of the sensor using the screws provided is a bit tough. Be sure to pre drill holes because the philips head will deform and be useless if you try torquing without drilling first. I gave up on the screws and used the pressure sensitive adhesive pad included.

4.0 out of 5 stars great small clock/temperature station, September 28, 2005

When you get this clock, the package comes with the following items:

- 1 clock
- 1 clock stand
- two adhesive mounts
- two screws (for wall mounting)

Note: Two triple A batteries are required for the operation of this clock and are not included.

The La Crosse Technology Temperature Station is great for people who are looking for the following qualities in a clock:

- affordability
- simple time display
- indoor/outdoor temperature display

Also, this clock is not for people who are looking for:

- led backlight display
- alarm function
- ac adapter powered

Overall, the La Crosse WS does well in what it promises. Being a clock, it displays the time with dark enough contrast that it doesn't difficult to read the time on the display. As a weather station, I get outdoor temperature readings that are regularly consistent with online temperature forecasts. On occasion, when the sun is directly shining over the outdoor weather monitor, you will see an aberration in temperature that will normalize as dawn passes. I haven't checked the indoor readings against a thermometer, but the readings are never so off that I would consider them to be inconsistent.

If you are looking for a clock with more functionality i.e. (led backlight, alarm), I recommend looking for a clock at radio shack, though they would be a little more expensive.

These are highly inaccurate! A $1.00 thermometer will give you better results. Placing both indoor transmitter and outdoor in the same room can show degree variances of 4-degrees! WOW! This is terrible for a digital thermometer. The game they play is to suggest that their units have a RESOLUTION of .1 degree; but hide that the ACCURACY is as high as 2-degrees (a whopping 20-times different from the unit's RESOLUTION!!!) Therefore two units (eg. indoor & outdoor) can show differences of 4-degrees!

This unit will be lucky to be within 15 deg. of actual out side temp. After several weeks of conversing the company sent me a different "sending unit" which turned out to be no more accurate than the original unit. I would not recommend this unit to anyone.

Yes, a great little indoor/outdoor thermometer for the price. I'm on my second one. First one lasted almost two years. There comes a point when adding new batteries to the transmitter doesn't help; a new one has to be purchased (LaCrosse informed me that they last 2-5 years). At that point, you might as well buy a whole new unit, because by shopping around, you can get a whole new unit for less than it costs to just get a replacement transmitter. I've put my first monitor in another room where it reads the indoor temp only, and that makes me happy enough. So, I figure in ten years time I should have one for every room in my condo. [smile]

I have purchased 2 different units from this company and niether one works. One has been on my wall for a month and has yet to set the time or read the outside temp. I have followed all the procedures several times with no results. I have sat on hold on their 800 number for 30 minutes before giving up. Be warned if you purchase.

Thanks,
Georgi

4.0 out of 5 stars Great gadget for the price, January 2, 2007
This review is from: La Crosse Technology WS-7013BZ-IT-CBP Wireless Temperature Station (Kitchen)
I have the sensor mounted on the back (house-facing side) of the post on my front porch, and it does exactly what I need it to do: Sends an accurate temperature reading to the station upstairs in my master bath, so I know how to dress in the morning. Pile on a turtleneck & sweater on a December morning? Or just do with a shirt & blazer?

I have another remote station in the kitchen, too. The sleek little display units weigh next to nothing (= easy to mount on the wall with a wee nail), and are small enough to be discreet -- yet sleek enough to look sharp -- but the digital readout is large enough so that my 40-something, morning-blearied eyes don't need glasses to see it.

The instructions for the remote sensor say that it can handle residual moisture, like mist/fog, but that it shouldn't be subjected to direct rain. So I take a star off for that (an "outdoor thermometer" should be able to handle all of the outdoors, n'est-ce pas?). But otherwise, these have been just as accurate as the mercury thermometer that the previous owner installed on the same porch post as I installed the remote sensor for this.

Great gadget for the price.
