5.0 out of 5 stars Can't go wrong with this desktop weather station..., December 12, 2003
This review is from: La Crosse Technology WS-9018 Wireless Weather Station (Kitchen)
I recently purchased this unit and I am very happy with it. It shows both indoor and ourdoor temperature/humidity values on the screen at the same time. It displays air presure which allows you to see what the weather is like and will be like in the next day or so. It also graphs the last 12 hours of barometric readings. Determing the weather forecast is easy and accurate. Temperature and humidty values seem very accurate as well. It also has min/max values for just about everything it monitors, and has various sampling rates for each of the stored values. It has a nice amount of features and performs each feature very well. Can't go wrong with this unit.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: La Crosse Technology WS-9018 Wireless Weather Station (Kitchen)
They'll tell you it's too expensive and to get the $20 thermometer. On the other end the spectrum, they'll tell you it's a waste. It doesn't have rain gauges or anemometers. But, it's a bang for your buck. True, it's fairly expensive, BUT most weather stations that sell for about $30 less don't even tell you indoor humidity ( no indoor humidity.) Their outdoor sensors don't have humidity as a feature, either ( no outdoor humidity). This model's sensor, the TX7U, does detect humidity, as does the model itself. This model also gives you the EXACT barometric air pressure (fancy name for air pressure), not just an arrow showing barometric air pressure trends, like most other models. They (the other models) pretend to forecast the weather (in the form of those pesky icons). They fail. (They only rely on barometric air pressure. The Weather Channel has this as well as tons of info from Doppler radars and satellites. We all know how well they do!!!) This model only displays the barometric air pressure. Though it looks like it's trying to forecast the weather at first glance, you see that it's just a way of showing barometric air pressure after you read the fine print. It also has a bar graph showing how the barometric air pressure has fluctuated in the last twelve hours. In addition to this, it automatically records and stores Minimum/Maximum records for everything (temperature and humidity both outdoor and indoor, barometric air pressure) as well as the date and time it reached that minimum (or maximum). It features all this and more! Plus, it's only $100 at www.ambientweather.com (which is a very reputable dealer). Hope this review helps!!!

I was about to buy the Oregon Scientific Multi-Channel Weather Forecast Radio Controlled Clock BAR888 when I saw one review of that product that recomended this one instead. It costs almost the same but does a lot more, most importantly everything is displayed on the screen at once (indoor and outdoor temp and humidity).Great accurate product.

Got this WS-9018 for AUD$88 and it's a very nice unit, and seems to be quite accurate at measuring indoor & outdoor temp & humidity via its radio-linked outdoor sensor, and indoor air pressure. It is important to put good quality new alkaline batteries (energizer or duracell, 2 in each unit) in it or it will malfunction in unpredictable ways and doesn't always give a low battery indicator when doing so. The only feature I don't like is that the big central bar graph of air pressure in the middle of the unit flashes continually which is rather "busy" and distracting on an otherwise discreet & professional display. By flashing, I mean that it goes through a cycle: it goes off, then comes back on one bar at a time from right to left over several seconds, then goes off and repeats it all over again.

Does what it says it'll do.

Has been very reliable and the atomic clock feature is great!

The design is cool looking too!

I would have given it 5 stars but the forecast feature seems to be a bit of a waste of time... but I think they all are.

It is a great little device and I'd recommend it, I think you would be happy with it unless you are some kind of a weather obsessed TV meteorologist and in that case you'd probably have already rigged up some other kind of Alberta Clipper predictin' contraption anyway.

For the average homeowner it's great, go ahead and treat yourself to one or two today.

you'll always know the high and low for the day as well as the relative humidity!

I like mine, I like it alot...
