Product Description

Amazon.com Review

A great gadget for a boating or camping trip, this battery-powered, wireless weather station displays all the pertinent information on its main screen. In addition, it has a projection display for time and temperature that will get you up and moving quickly at the first sign of good weather. The station reports the temperature in Fahrenheit and Celsius, plus relative humidity for both indoor and outdoor locations via a remote sensor. For more accurate outdoor readings, the base unit can receive information from up to three different sensors that can each be placed up to 80 feet away. The weather station records minimum and maximum temperature and humidity readings within a 24-hour period and recalls them at your prompting. Also, it has an indoor comfort level indicator, which uses happy or sad face icons to let you know when the temperature is at a comfortable level. One of three forecast icons on the LCD displays weather predictions based on changing air pressure, and is about 75% accurate for any 12- to 20-hour time period. The device also shows the current moon phase (of 12 possible phases) and tide position.

For added convenience, this weather station features an alarm clock with a 12- or 24-hour time mode, snooze feature, a calendar that displays the day of the week and numeric month and day, and a United States map icon that identifies your current time zone. For precise time- and date-keeping, the gadget has a built-in antenna system that receives signals from the WWVB radio transmitter in Fort Collins, Colorado, which is in turn is regulated by the atomic clock. When the alarm sounds, the station can be set to project either time or outdoor temperature, (or alternate between the two), in large red digits onto a wall or ceiling up to six feet away so you can’t miss it. The projection arm has four different orientation angles so you can adjust it to the perfect eye level, plus includes an adjustable brightness control. The station requires three AA batteries for the receiver, another two for the remote, and mounts on a wall or rests on a table for readouts. This unit is covered by a one-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Product, March 16, 2006
This review is from: La Crosse Technology WS-9025U Projection Wireless Weather Station (Kitchen)
Good weather station. It has all features you want for day to day home use, especially during winter.

Pros : Self setting clock, Weather Forecast Icon, Temp. and Humidity readings for both Indoor and Outdoor, Good long range remote sensor, Time and Temp. projection on the ceiling, Temp. reading in both deg. C and deg. F (I am comfortable with deg. C, so was looking mainly for this feature)

Cons : Can't change the direction of projection, it is always on the ceiling.

Can't change the date format, it is in (MM/DD), can be changed to DD/MM, only if you change the time in 24 hrs format.

Display panel size is small.

I have been using this for past one month, so far so good !!

This was purchased to give as a gift because we've had one for a year or so and can't live without it! It does it all, the quality is great and checking temps, forecasts, etc. becomes somewhat addictive. We use this clock as the one by which all clocks in the house are set.

I purchased the LaCrosse weather station with a gift certificate in December. The first unit I got I could not get the station to read the remote sensor. I had to send it back--at my expense. I think that wasn't such a great thing. It was their problem, they should have paid for the shipping. But, oh well. The new station is working great. It pretty much agrees with weather.com. It may vary by a couple of degrees. We like the projection feature. We use the station in our bedroom and, though it says it can project up to six feet, it actually does much more than that, as we have high, vaulted ceilings in our bedroom.

I like the fact that it connects to the atomic clock, so that I can always know at least one clock in the house is right! And, despite other reviews that I read, so far my batteries have lasted over a month. I'm pleased with that. I think it was a good buy. Overall, I am happy with the weather station.
