Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Anyone who’s struggled to read a clock in the dark will appreciate this unique gadget. It projects time, outdoor temperature--or both in turn--onto walls or ceilings three to ten feet away. Users can even rotate the projection and adjust intensity for the best possible viewing. Both time (hour, minute, and second) and date (month, date, year, and day) are automatically updated via the U.S. Atomic Clock in Fort Collins, Colorado for radio-controlled accuracy.

Other features include an indoor temperature display, automatic projection focus, and time zones ranging from GMT to –12 GMT with map identification for US time zones. Options consist of 12 or 24 hour time mode and Fahrenheit or Celsius display. Especially convenient for couples, the clock’s dual alarms each have their own adjustable snooze.

When operating off the included AC adapter, the unit can continually project time and temperature. When working from the battery, the touch of a button projects time and temperature for three seconds at a time. Compact enough for any bedroom or office, the clock measures 5-1/4 by 1-1/4 by 3-1/2 inches, and runs on two AA batteries. The main unit can operate from the AC adapter or two backup AA batteries. This item is covered by a limited, one-year warranty. --Mary Park

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product For The Price, October 24, 2005

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: La Crosse Technology WT-5721U Projection Alarm Clock with Outdoor Temperature (Kitchen)
I purchased this clock to replace a Oregon Scientific model that lasted about 3 years before the projection display broke. The projection display on this model is much better, with a bolder look. It also has selectable brightness settings.
Set-up was a breeze, taking only about 5 minutes and a little reading of the instruction manual. The most useful function I find is the alternate projection display of time and outside temperature. I like knowing what to expect with the weather before I get out of bed.
The reception of the time signal is better than the OS model I had previously, but both kept the time updated.
The only negative thing against this model I have found is the reception of the remote temperature sensor. I located the sensor approximately 30 feet from the base unit. At that location, it picks up a signal about 50% of the time. Compared with other remote thermometers I have, that is about normal and it has to go through two walls.
Overall, based on cost of the unit I have to say it is the best clock in this price range.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but a little hard to use, December 3, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: La Crosse Technology WT-5721U Projection Alarm Clock with Outdoor Temperature (Kitchen)
I bought this clock based on the reviews here. I am not particularly interested in the radio controlled time setting feature, so I can't comment on that. I like how it projects the time on the ceiling (or wall) when I press the snooze button. That works very well, and you can adjust the angle to project the image just about anywhere. I just have to remember not to let the clock get moved underneath the lampshade or something, which blocks the image. I only have two complaints about this clock. One is that it is complicated to set it up. I really had to study the manual closely, because it's not intuitive. The other complaint is that you can't set or re-set the alarm in the dark; the setting buttons are not illuminated, so you can't tell what you're doing unless the light is on. And if you have already removed your glasses before getting into bed, forget it - the print on the buttons is too tiny for middle-aged eyes to read unassisted. But other than being complicated to set, the time is easily readable and the alarm goes off when it's supposed to, so I'm reasonably satisfied.

5.0 out of 5 stars How did we live without it, September 22, 2005
This review is from: La Crosse Technology WT-5721U Projection Alarm Clock with Outdoor Temperature (Kitchen)
Great product. Light intensity on the ceiling is easily read without being too bright. Standard LED clocks are brighter. Follow directions exactly as written and all is well. Buttons are sensitive, so be very careful when handling the clock during set up. It is wonderful to be able to look to the ceiling and get the time and temprature.
