Don't pay any attention to the $139.99 retail price. If you buy this unit, you will see that it clearly isn't worth even half of that price. I bought this as a gift for my husband for Christmas 2006. I am a weather buff, but my husband just wants to know the basics. I paid 20 and got the free DVD. I would have felt/been cheated if I had paid much more.It is difficult for us to read from 4 feet away. We are in our late 40's with no difficulties with our eyesight. We wear glasses... but we would have much preferred the display numbers, icons, etc. to be larger. Expect very basic features. If you just want to know what the basics are (temperature and humidity.. inside and outside, and you will be standing fairly close to read it, then this is your unit. Keep in mind, that you have to hang the sensor outside in a covered area, away from direct sunlight and rain. Fog and mist won't hurt the outdoor sensor, according to the manual. Also, the manual strongly advises you put the outside sensor on the north side of your building. It only comes with one sensor. You can buy 2 more. Summary. I wouldn't pay more than 20 to 30 for this. It is basic, with some valuable low end features. I rated it only 3 stars. It is neat for detailed oriented people like me (the temp inside is 73.8, not just 73 or 74). It needs to have a bigger display. Some of the terms used in the manual will require a trip to the internet unless you know, for example, what hPa is. We've decided to give it to one of our grown kids... and buy something with more features and a BIGGER display. Also, the photograph shows white, but we received the black unit. I actually prefer the black unit, because based on the picture, the white unit looks cheap.

I am about to buy this unit because I have had one just like it, only with a wood finish, for 6 years. It will be a great house warming gift. It works perfectly though it has some foibles. The outdoor sensor has to be kept out of direct sunlight or you have to get up before the sun or read the outdoor temperature when it is shaded. Keep it on the north side of the house like they tell you! Complaints about the read-out size are exagerated. As far as being cheap -it's plastic, people, and it costs $36 - it IS CHEAP. Technology is changing and the price is coming down on these units. My kids did pay $100+ for the unit, but that was the price six years ago. Times change. I bet you can't find a better weather instrument with an atomic clock for any where near this price. Keep the directions where you can find them. Especially when changing the battery. (I change with daylight savings changes.) The atomic clock is great for setting all the other clocks in the house!

In my opinion this "weather station" is worth no more than the $29.99 (with dvd) that I paid. Overall unit is generally very cheap feeling. Item was delived broken, not getting readings from remote sensor and missing display segments on some of the readings that were working. For what it's worth the LaCrosse customer service seemed very helpful and I'm sending the unit to them to get it fixed or replaced (7.20 of shipping later). **UPDATE** I got my "repaired" unit back from LaCrosse, LCD on main unit is fixed, remote unit is not transmitting, battery door on remote unit does not fit the remote sensor, not worth the shipping to send back a second time at this point. TOTAL JUNK, I really wanted this work. **Yet another update** I called Lacrosse to let them know I had received a defective unit back from warranty repair. The very nice woman I spoke with told me it was most likely a defective remote sensor and they would get another one out right away (no need to ship the broken one). I got replacement for the replacement a few days later and everything seems to be working fine. Readings seem to be accurate.

If you want the real forecast and can't trust the weathermen, you're in luck...,

In our area, our weathermen wait until it's raining outside, then look out their window and tell us "Well today looks like it'll be a cloudy overcast, you might want to bring an umbrella..." when just the night before the same channel said to expect sunny skies waking up and throughtout the day. SO, this thermometor weather advisory tell you what to expect and I thought it was kind of going crazy when it said it was going to "rain" but sure enough, a few hours later, it was actually raining. If these weathermen, would just splurge and get one of these themselves, their salaries would double in no time. Now, it has a bunch of different things on it that I honestly pay no mind to and it's probably useful but I just use it for the weather outside. I didn't like that when I got it, my idea was I was going to hang it on my window... WRONG. I had to hang it on my wall. It's not even on a wall up against an outside wall. It's on an inside wall in my kitchen. For what it looks like, so "sciency", it looks gaudy and could have been made to match something, some kind of floral design or I don't know something... but it works great. The only downfall is everytime I look at this thing, it's big and silver and I keep thinking it belongs in the "Science Room" of my daughter's webkinz room. But, otherwise, I'd highly recommend it. Setting it up didn't seem to be a problem either.

This item has performed flawlessly for me for several months now. Set up was easy and the automatic date and time settings happened as advertised. This unit gives me the information I am looking for at a glance.I would recommend this item without hesitation.

Hubby Loves It!,

I bought this for my boss for xmas. Hubby saw it and whined because I didn't get him one! I ordered him one and he loves it! It has great features, easy to set up, great and easy to read display. The piece that goes outside is great because it is ok to be in the weather (which is the purpose of these types of items. The one I bought for hubby before says "do not expose to rain"??? So we keep it under the carport, which does not give an accurate reading.) This one is great... he shows it off every chance he gets... at this price I recommend you buy 2...one for yourself and one for that hard to buy for person down the road :) You won't be sorry!

Great to monitor the chicken coop, the root cellar, & outside temps,
This review is from: La Crosse Technology Weather Channel WS-7390TWC Wall Hanging Wireless Weather Station (Kitchen)
I love this weather station and look at it several times a day. Of course, I live in Vermont where the winter weather will make you take notice even without this additional technological input. I bought this model to get the max-min function and the humidity monitor. I have one probe in my chicken coop and one probe on my porch. So I can tell if the chickens are getting too chilly, monitor how well my coop insulation is performing vs. outside temperatures, and also check humidity in the coop (high humidity with cold temps is a recipe for chicken-comb frostbite). Next, I am going to get an additional probe so I can monitor temperature and humidity in my soon-to-be-constructed root cellar.I rate it 4 stars instead of five because of design of the interface. The way the labels read on the station is very strange; sometimes you have to read across the thermometer, and other times not. Also, the thermometer gives an unhappy face to the indoor weather conditions in my house. It doesn't think my house is warm enough for human comfort. Well, 63 degrees is warm enough for some of us, thank you very much. I don't need a thermometer telling me whether it's happy. This thermometer clearly need to put on a sweater, or kick in towards the oil bill. :-) Seriously, the information that it is 63 F is all I want from my thermometer. Also, it would be nice if when the temperature is cold, and the pressure is low, to have the cloud putting out snow flakes instead of rain. That would make ME smile.

I have used this station for about a month now. It has worked perfectly since I received it. I would suggest getting stand alone instruments for wind and rain measurements and a station like this for basic conditions.

The price wasn't bad since it was 75%+ off MSRP. The install wasn't bad either.I had trouble to get every sensor to work but that's probably because i did not spent enought ime setting it up. It gives me outside temperature and that's all i need Decent product;)

Too Large,
This review is from: La Crosse Technology Weather Channel WS-7390TWC Wall Hanging Wireless Weather Station (Kitchen)
We were looking for a reliable weather station and picked this because of the price. Purchased on sale for less than $20 this was worth the money. I would not pay the original price for this. It is plastic and VERY LARGE. It has it's place in the back entry way but would not be decorative in view of your guests.
