4.0 out of 5 stars Great Clock
I've had this atomic clock for about two weeks and love it. The main selling point for me is the fact that it automatically sets itself. I just happen to be one of those people that needs at least one clock in their home to show the correct time! The other features are very nice as well. Indoor/outdoor temps, day, date and moon phase are pretty nice to have all in one...

3.0 out of 5 stars Wireless Thermometer Stops Working
I got this clock initially because it was able to sync with some radio frequency to pick up the time automatically so I didn't have to manually adjust it when it gets a few minutes behind or when Daylight Savings shifts.

I just happen to be one of those people that needs at least one clock in their home to show the correct time! The other features are very nice as well. Indoor/outdoor temps, day, date and moon phase are pretty nice to have all in one clock. Also the display is very large and easy to read. My one small complaint is that the temperature reading has frozen on me once. I knew my home wasn't staying at exactly 80.6 F for two days (it's normally around 74)so I just had to remove and then reinsert the batteries and then things seemed to work fine.

I got this clock initially because it was able to sync with some radio frequency to pick up the time automatically so I didn't have to manually adjust it when it gets a few minutes behind or when Daylight Savings shifts.

That part of the clock works fine, but it does take it up to 10 minutes before it syncs and has this rather cumbersome set of steps to follow. My first few try didn't work, which then required me to unplug the batteries, wait 10 minutes, put the batteries back in, and wait and hope it'll sync in the next 10 minutes. Once it syncs, you're pretty much set.

However, the wireless thermometer that was included kept stopping its transmission so I had to redo all these steps. After awhile, my time just stopped syncing no matter how many times I tried. The instructions tells me to try to alter the time and mess with the settings, and it finally started to sync again.

I've currently stopped using my wireless thermometer as it's stopped all 4 times I got it to work. I place it outside, less than 10 feet in my balcony, and it still stops transmitting the temperature. I think it might have to do with the cold winter here, but I'd think they'd make it more durable than that since the winters in Seattle aren't that bad compared to other parts of the country.

Great product! Purchased one for our vacation home & gave one as a gift. Loved all the features and bold numbers which are easy to see across the room. Decided to purchased a 3rd one for our main home. My in-laws raved about the one we gave them for Christmas and want to purchase another one as well.

Outside temperature sensor quit after one year. Changing batteries did not help. Have e-mailed the company about warranty replacement. After 4 days, they have not responded. Giving them a call..............

I also have the same problem. The outdoor temperature display quit working. Changed batteries and put them in the order in which the instructions said to no avail. Did anyone get a response from the manufacurer on this problem? I cannot find my receipt. I'm sure it has more than a 2 year warranty??

The reason that I did not give it 5 stars even I love it so much is because the LCD screen is not bright enough. The view angle is too really narrow for this LCD screen. Otherwise, this product is great and the clock set itself on the first night.

I haven't had any major problems with this, and it works well. At first it wouldn't connect with whatever it's supposed to connect to, but I think it is now. Whether it is connected or not though, it has the same time as my computer, so that's good enough for me. I really don't need to know the time within 1/1000th of a second.

The only problems I had were the previously mentioned not connecting to the radio, and putting up the outside temp receiver. The screws were surprisingly cheap, and stripped VERY easily. I had to nail the bottom screw in :\ If you buy this, be ready for the screw to turn into liquid if you breath on it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Clock stops for good after 6 months, May 26, 2005
This review is from: La Crosse Technology Weather Channel WS-8117CTWC Atomic Digital Wall Clock with Outdoor Temperature (Kitchen)
Excellent clock! But have had alot of problems with the remote temperature display. It quits working for no apparent reason. Batteries only last a few months in both clock and sensor. After six months the remote temperature stopped working completely......

This item does not give an accurate temperature. Its sensor is right next to two other thermometer sensors, and the La Crosse temperature is always 5-10 degrees off the others. Kinda annoying, but the clock is ok.

The display (moon phases) could be more crisp and better lit, the clock went on sale for 1/2 price right after I got it. Bummer dude. I really feel cheated. I wished I had shopped more, Walmart had the same clock and it was cheaper.
