5.0 out of 5 stars Melodic Death Metal,German Style., August 4, 2009

This review is from: Crossfire (Audio CD)
This Slab of German Belligerence Toes The Melodic Death Metal Line,But What it Lacks in Originality,it at Least Partly Makes up For in Propulsive Power and Hostility. In The Past,They've Shared Split Releases With Heaven Shall Burn, and The Crossfire Suggests That This Was a Good Match.Everything is in It's Right Place-Precision Drumming,Thick Riffs That Let Enough Melody to Bleed Through to Allow For Simultaneous Heaviness and Catchiness, and The Kind of Vocals That Result From Gargling With Drain Cleaner. And as Such,on Fall Of Serenity's Fourth Full-Length,They're Easily Lumped Into The Same Category as The Black Dahlia Murder,Darkest Hour, and Maroon. At Their Most Compelling,as on The Chug Fest of "Recreation",The Frantic Thrashings of "In Case of Death",or The Climactic Drama of "Blood Portrait",They Deliver Solid Chunks of Metallic Violence That Will Have Many a Metalhead Nodding Along(Whether They Want to or Not)and Fighting The Urge to Hold Their Horns Aloft. However,The Problem Here is That as With Far Too Many Bands Doing The Melodic Death Metalcore Rounds,There is Too Little in The Way of Variety or Invention. So For The Most Part,One Track is Almost Indistinguishable From The Next.File Under Good But Inessential.
