What happened to the DVD?,

I ordered my DVD new from Amazon, so I don't understand what happened to the movie! The words (people's names and titles) are cut off on the edges. No, this isn't my TV. I checked and reformatted to fit so that the edges are squeezed in and still the words (not closed caption) are cut off. Names of people and cities, things I would like to have in a documentary, are just half there. Not cool.
