5.0 out of 5 stars Crossing the Buffalo, April 26, 2009
The book was an enjoyable read. Probably one of the best I have read on the Zulu War. It provided both the historical and political background as well as fine details of the war.

4.0 out of 5 stars Informative, September 5, 2011
I found much in this book that was new to me not having previously read much on the Zulu War of 1879. The author made use of some newly available source materials and made an obvious effort to separate fact from fiction. The Zulu War seems to have more than it's share of myths. There is a good deal of background on the Zulu nation in addition to the treatment of the actual campaign. The author is clearly familiar with the ground on which the battles were fought.
