Book Description

July 13, 2008
Five Mile Bridge has been closed for years, slowly decaying and seemingly forgotten over the fields west of Bryan, Ohio. Joshua Kendall stood there once with a friend now gone. But a return trip to the bridge washes Joshua backward in time and memory, giving him the chance to rediscover parts of his life he thought he'd lost. Yet even as he pries those memories loose like fossils from shale, Joshua's actions are rippling through the paths of time backward as well as forward, and as his mind wrestles with pasts he cannot remember, roads which have never existed are suddenly real.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet ode to lost friendship with a mind-spinning twist, December 15, 2008
By
A Buny (Columbus, OH United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Crossing Decembers (Paperback)
The novel "Crossing Decembers" begins at a funeral, but what seems to be a sad and sweet story of a lost friend becomes something unexpected and surprisingly exciting.

It is set in Northwest Ohio, and at Bowling Green State University, which makes it even more interesting to those who spent time there. But the setting is not crucial to the story. It brings to mind those amazing friends that you make in College, the kind of friends that shape your life and help you to realize yourself. And it makes those of us who might wonder "what if?" wonder even more as, midway through, the reader is taken on a frantic chase to possibly change events in what seems to be an alternate universe.

Ultimately, it brings you to the realization that maybe things really do happen the way they are supposed to, no matter how senseless they might seem at the time.

What you expect is not what you get from this novel. "Crossing Decembers" is an excellent way to spend a quiet afternoon.
