John Booth is one of my favorite authors of all time. In "Crossing Decembers" he tugs at the heartstrings, fills you with wonder, and leaves you desparate for more. A must read for anyone who's ever liked books!

Sweet ode to lost friendship with a mind-spinning twist,
By A Buny (Columbus, OH United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Crossing Decembers (Paperback)
The novel "Crossing Decembers" begins at a funeral, but what seems to be a sad and sweet story of a lost friend becomes something unexpected and surprisingly exciting.
It is set in Northwest Ohio, and at Bowling Green State University, which makes it even more interesting to those who spent time there. But the setting is not crucial to the story. It brings to mind those amazing friends that you make in College, the kind of friends that shape your life and help you to realize yourself. And it makes those of us who might wonder "what if?" wonder even more as, midway through, the reader is taken on a frantic chase to possibly change events in what seems to be an alternate universe. Ultimately, it brings you to the realization that maybe things really do happen the way they are supposed to, no matter how senseless they might seem at the time. What you expect is not what you get from this novel. "Crossing Decembers" is an excellent way to spend a quiet afternoon. |
