Editorial Reviews

Huffington Post, January 31, 2008
Strong songs, vocals and production values, with Garcia's instantly recognizable guitar solos on songs that are whole entities unto themselves.

John Lynskey, Hittin' the Note
Bill Cutler is a singer/songwriter for the ages... Legendary stars, timeless playing; "Crossing the Line" has it all

David Gans, The Grateful Dead Hour
"I've been watching with interest as Bill works to get this excellent record out."

Jeb Wright, Classic Rock Revisited
The songs range from Dead style to Americana to rock to folk, each one as strong as the one before.

Product Description
San Francisco singer-songwriter/producer Bill Cutler unveils "Crossing the Line", his three-decades-in-the-making solo album featuring 14 original songs with guest performances by:

Jerry Garcia (Grateful Dead), Bob Weir (Grateful Dead, RatDog), Jorma Kaukonen (Jefferson Airplane), David Nelson and Dave Torbert (New Riders of the Purple Sage), Jerry Miller, (Moby Grape), harmonica ace Matthew Kelly (RatDog, Kingfish), Michael Falzarano (Hot Tuna), Mark Karan (The Other Ones, RatDog, Mickey Hart's Planet Drum), pianist Austin deLone (Elvis Costello, Boz Scaggs), steel guitarist Barry Sless (Phil Lesh & Friends, David Nelson Band), and guitarist Scotty Quik (Sammy Hagar).

First coming to the attention of Northern California music fans as co-writer of "Home to Dixie" on the debut album by Kingfish, Cutler has logged many hours in the studio with a wide variety of artists including The Big Wu, Jewel, Paul Collins, Mystery Tramps, and Spike 1000.

"Crossing the Line" is really a songwriter's record", says Cutler. "I learned a lot from listening to Neil Young and Jackson Browne. They both use musicians in very specific ways in order to serve the song. That made a lasting impression on me." Tapping the talents of many great musicians, all of whom trusted Cutler to take the lead, this is one of the few modern records thast does just what its title explicitly states: it exceeds expectations and blows away preconceived notions.

Writing and recording "Crossing the Line" has been a long journey for Cutler. "It was a big challenge seeing this project through, but I feel it represents some of my best work as a songwriter," Cutler says. "I can't think of another album like this."
