4.0 out of 5 stars Great for beginner
These are quite easy puzzles with fairly nice pictures, making this an ideal book for a beginner. If you're an addict of griddlers, paint-by-numbers, pixel puzzles, etc. like I am, this book feeds the addiction, but don't look forward to long solving times. My favorite books for experienced solvers are the griddlers from the Sunday Telegraph.

2.0 out of 5 stars Okay, but lots of omissions
This is an okay puzzle book, except for missing numbers and columns apparently caused by over zealous trimming. It needed a proof reader. Here are omissions that the reader can correct:

#23
Column 29: Add the digit 1 as the top number in the list of clues.
Line 17: Add the digit 2 as the first number in the list.
Line 18: Add the digits...

Line 18: Add the digits 3 and 1 as the first two numbers.
Line 19: Add the digits 3 and 2 as the first two numbers.

#24 The last two columns are missing from the puzzle. You can draw the columns in.
Missing column 19: Add the numbers 2, 12, 12, and 1 (top to bottom) as the list.
Missing column 20: Add the numbers 3, 9, and 12 (top to bottom) as the list.

#31 The last two columns are missing from the solution.. Don't peek at this correction if you don't want to know yet!
(Correction: Fill in the top squares and the bottom squares of both columns.)

#77
Column 9: Add the digit 5 as the top number in the list of clues.

#79
Line 10: Add the digit 6 as the first number in the list of clues.
Line 25: Add the digit 2 as the first number in the list.
Line 26: Add the digit 2 as the first number in the list.

#83
Column 18: Add the digit 4 as the top number in the list of clues.

I cannot guarantee that these are the only omissions. These are the omissions that I discovered with diligent study.

3.0 out of 5 stars Crosspix is not the worst I've tried, March 28, 2007
By
This review is from: Crosspix: Pixillated Puzzle Madness (Paperback)
Although this logic-puzzle book is the best of 4 that I recently purchased it has one major problem: printing errors. So far I've found one page that's missing half the puzzle, and at least two that the numbers were misprinted, making the puzzle impossible. The picture quality is fair, but I'm such a picture logic junkie that I'm still enjoying it.

4.0 out of 5 stars regrettable printing errors -- updated pages available for download, November 28, 2007

This review is from: Crosspix: Pixillated Puzzle Madness (Paperback)
Hi there, folks. I'm the author of this book and I'm quite embarrassed by the number of errors that were allowed to be printed. You can go to my website and download entire pages that are corrected:

I hope you still enjoy the book, despite the errors.

2.0 out of 5 stars substandard puzzlecrafting, January 13, 2008
This review is from: Crosspix: Pixillated Puzzle Madness (Paperback)
As if the typos aren't bad enough, there are several puzzles that don't have unique solutions. For example, in just the first 20 puzzles, one fourth (05, 09, 13, 15 and 19) have areas with more than one solution. You have a 50/50 chance of guessing what the author had in mind.

Still, as someone else said, I'm addicted enough that it's otherwise entertaining. Still, until there is a second edition with the problems corrected, I'd probably not recommend buying it at this price.

2.0 out of 5 stars Errors Make a Good Book Bad, December 5, 2007
This review is from: Crosspix: Pixillated Puzzle Madness (Paperback)
I enjoyed the puzzles I was able to do, but found MULTIPLE puzzles with errors in the numbering, making them impossible to do. yes you can just look in solutions to get the correct combination, but then you know what hte picture is supposed to look like and have spoiled the fun of doing the puzzle in the first place. There is at least one puzzle that is missing half of the grid due to a bad edit on the page. with so many options out there I really have to say I do not recommend it. There are other options out there that are great for beginners and at least you can trust that the clues given to you are the correct ones.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too many typos, October 29, 2007

There are too many mistakes in this book. Many of the puzzles are cut-off, missing numbers or have errors in them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but with printing errors, May 9, 2007

Vinster (Jersey City, New Jersey) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Crosspix: Pixillated Puzzle Madness (Paperback)
As I began solving the puzzles in this book I though it was better than most of the other "Illustrated Logic/Oekaki/Picross/Griddler/PaintByNumbers" books you'd find out on the market. I'm a complete nut for these types of puzzles and I was going to give this book 5 stars but then as I made my way through the book I found there was a printing error which made it impossible for me to complete a puzzle (Now I see that another reviewer mentioned finding 2 printing errors.....<shrug>). I hope a re-print will correct these problems in the future, but aside from that, I've got no other complaints & would easily recommend this book to any picross-type maniac!

1.0 out of 5 stars Riddled with errors, May 6, 2011

This book would be extremely enjoyable if not for the errors littered among its pages. The omissions are truly disappointing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute little book, December 15, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Crosspix: Pixillated Puzzle Madness (Paperback)
I enjoyed CrossPix. It was small in size (6" x 6") compared to other puzzle art books but it was still workable. I have not reached the 40 block pages yet, I assume they will cause a little eye strain since the blocks are so small. At the same time, the small size is nice to carry. So far most of the puzzles are solvable, some are tricky but worth the effort. There are typos, and I had to cheat a little to figure them out but I'm not giving up . . . .
