This review is from: Amish Country Crossroads: The Postcard / The Crossroad / Sanctuary (Hardcover)
I was unter the impression that the three books were a continuation of the people in the first two, not so. Book one and Book two are continuing but Book three has nothing whatsoever to do with the other two. I loved the first two but The Sanctuary didn't have anything to do with the first two and was not a good book in my opinion. It starts out with a girl leaving her husband and you don't know why she left for 13 or 14 chapters! This just doesn't appear to be the writing of Beverly Lewis, I love her books. The story line was just not good, it was unrealistic to me but could just be my taste or lack thereof, however you want to look at it. I am eagerly awaiting her next book and hope she goes back to her original Amish style. BB

I received this book as a gift some time ago & put off reading it, thinking it was geared more toward female readers than male readers. I suppose that's true, but it doesn't matter much. I started reading The Postcard & finished within a few days. Now I have started reading The Crossroads at first to see what happens to the main characters next. This book is a good read, not even close to what I imagined it would be!

This was a great book well written. I could not put it down I read the whole book in one day. I Love Beverly Lewis books. I had read one and I am hooked I am now in the process of trying to get all of her books to read.

Another Beverly Lewis Classic,

What can I say I like all of Beverly Lewis's books. I love to read about the Amish and their simple lives and good moral values. They work hard and are kind and loving people.
Beverly Lewis in her books uncovers some of the more "English" ways they at times participate in which leads to severe consequences. I enjoy the books but they do become somewhat predictable, others have told what the story is about so I'll just say it's good and worth reading.

A Good Read,
This review is from: Sanctuary (Paperback)
Melissa is recently married to her wonderful husband Ryan. Suddenly after a brief encounter with someone from her secretive past she leaves her husband and hides herself in an Amish settlement. Her husband's world is turned upside down with his wife missing. It sounds pretty predictable but for me it wasn't. There where some twists thrown in there. It starts off exciting and pretty much stays thrilling.
Another Amish fiction. Yeah I am on a Amish kick. Maybe I should start a challenge? Beverly Lewis is probably best know for her Amish series The Heritage of Lancaster County. Unlike her fellow Christian author Wanda E. Brunstetter she doesn't romanticize the Amish she adds mystery and psychological thrills. She also wrote this with her husband David. I don't if that is what made this one different for me because I have read other books by her and sometimes they fizzle out. So what can say if I wanted you read this book? I like this book because lately I am looking for religion and these books have that. Just a little but it added in a smart way, in a real way. Where when you read the different situations the characters are going through you understand because you can add them into your own life. I like that.

My first David & Beverly Lewis read. I have enjoyed numerous Beverly Lewis books. David adds a bit of intrigue to Beverly's tender telling of stories within the Lancaster County Amish community. A great collaboration and most enjoyable read.

This isn't really the type of book I would read if the author wasn't highly recommended... it seems like everyone who comes into the library is a Beverly Lewis fan. So I figured, why not try something by her? And I did...
I'm not usually a religious person... but I like the way this book portrays faith. The characters talk about their beliefs but don't do it in an annoying way; they don't shove it down the reader's throats. Instead of trying to force me to believe, the book simply opens my eyes. That being said, this wasn't a completely religious book. Beverly Lewis is known for her Christian works, and this is no exception... except I actually enjoyed the story. It wasn't really all that (at least to me... someone more spiritual than me would enjoy it) but it's still a good read.

Book was OK, but the books by Cindy Woodsmall are ALOT better, and seem more acurate.

This appears to be part of the Amish Crossroads series, when in fact it has NOTHING to do with the other two books, the style, method, flow, everything seems out of balance. As an avid Beverly Lewis fan for many years, I felt supremely mislead by the description. Had the books description been written differently, I might have had a different response, but overall I kept reading and waiting for the book to "make sense" in it's relation to the Postcard and the Crossing - I didn't. Then the FBI and Russian Mob show-up....in a Lewis Amish Novel?....come on...seriously!?!?

This story will keep you on the edge of your seat wanting more. The story reveals the power that God holds over those who trust Him ,sometimes even before they realize that His power can change their lives.Wonderful storytelling.
