An album that truly ministers,
By
This review is from: Crossroads (Audio CD)
Deitrick Haddon just keeps getting better. He really came out with a good album this time. This album can really minister to you. This album actually started me to pray, which was right on time, cause I was starting to get that feeling that I didn't want to pray anymore. But the anointing on this album initiated me to pray and worship again with love, particularly from the song "Won't Stop Praying".
My favorite song is "Don't Wanna Let You Go" cause it can lead you into praise & worship and cherish the presence of God. I also like the song "Amen" cause it causes me to think about denying myself for Christ to follow Him. This album is loaded with good songs that can reach you where ever you are, whether you are in a fallen position, drifting away, or moving closer to God. You really got to get this album to understand what I mean. Of course, he also has some good upbeat praise songs such as "God is Good". I also like "It's Over Now," the track is tight and he testifies about God. Also, if you like Rance Allen, he's on this album, too for you, on the song "Had Not Been". It kind of takes you to church, if you know what I mean. Also, the production on this album is very good, he even has a group of violonists and there's probably other string instruments, too on his song "Trusting God". If you don't have this album, you got to get it, especially if you like Deitrick's past albums. By the way, I'm not an official promoter for this album, so I really do like this album.

I really enjoy listening to this entire CD. I saw Dietrick at a concert earlier this month and he is an amazing performer. Not only is he talented vocally and lyrically, he can also move his body as well as minister to the audience. "God is Good" is my favorite, and there are too many other wonderful songs to list that I recommend. I suggest that you buy this CD if you want to experience what Jehovah (God) has given to Dietrick to share with us. If you are at a Crossroads in your life, this CD will help you make the right decision.

Okay, so when I walked through the local Christian Bookstore, a few cds caught my attention. Kierra Sheard, Avalon, J. Moss, and Byron Cage. Of course, since listening to the radio station for a couple of months, I heard some of Deitrick's songs, so I decided to go with his cd "Crossroads."
Well, at first listen, the two songs that I loved were Track 3, "God is Good" and Track 6 "It's Over Now." Nothing else really seemed as tight as these two, but on the 2nd time around of feeling the cd, I fell in love with some more songs. My faves are: Track 2 "7-Ds featuring BJ" 9/10 stars Track 3 "God is Good" 10/10 stars Track 6 "It's Over Now" 10/10 stars Track 7 "God Didn't Give Up" 9/10 stars Track 10 "Amen" featuring WWIC M.V.P. Youth Choir 10/10 stars Track 11 "Don't Wanna Let You Go" 10/10 stars Track 13 "Crossroads" featuring Lady Life 10/10 stars Track 16 "Trusting God" 10/10 stars Track 18 "Prayer Changes Things" 9/10 stars Track 20 "Walls Are Tumbling" featuring Pastor Paula White 10/10 What I love about each song, especially the worship ones, is that they're meaningful and anointed. Deitrick is soulful, powerful, amazing and seriously talented! He's a young man who's obviously in love with the Lord because it is demonstrated in his songs, his voice, and his aura. I fell in love with the cd after a 2nd listen, so I highly recommend "Crossroads" to those considering buying it. It will be totally worth your money! His voice is like butter and his style is pure sweetness! Smashingly amazing!!! Blazin'!!! A FINE triumph!!! Wow, the reggae beat on Happy is totally exhilarating and the Dancehall flair to Walls Are Tumbling made me get up off my chair and dance!! The man is just talented!! Can't Deny It! Deitrick scored big with me and will indubitably be one of my favorite gospel artists from this day onward.

This is such an amazing album. This album has a mixture of a R&B, Old School, and Reggae feel. I was able to listen to this CD from the very beginning to the very end, while loving every song. Deitrick you did an awesome job on this one. You catered to every generation on the album while maintaining a strong impact on the new generation and keeping hold of the word.
This CD is a must have! You will be blessed by it. From: Deitrick Haddon's new biggest fan.

This is what really happens when musical genius meets God. This is truly a nice mix of everything. Not to worldly, not to churchy. I can listen to it and so can my parents. Finally, something just right...down the middle. I love it!!!

Don't skip this one I'm tellin' ya!,

2004 has been an overflow of good gospel music especially from the Verity Label. D. Haddy's latest set just adds to the list. I wanna be a gospel artist one day but CD's like this will just make it impossible to get noticed ;-). There is only one track on this album I don't like that much and even then I guess it's okay... He is definitely original yet the beauty of his music makes it feel familiar. What I also like about it is the abundant use of authentic instruments - different from all the midi we hear today. He's coming to London at the end of this month with Lisa McClendon and that is one concert I have to be at!!!
7-Ds: Let's just say that this track is soo hot I listened to it about 3 times before I carried on listening to the album. Lyrically it's like the first song from the first album (he's put a song to his name) GOD IS GOOD: A praise jam - very uptempo that will go down so well in a concert (key changes and all) UNITY: This track is the one I can't get into as much, it's growin on me. Like the last one it's very uptempo. The drum programming and drummer is heavy though. HAD NOT BEEN: The intro for the song is a bit drawn out but once it starts...it's HOT!!! It's like a traditional gospel song that you would use a tambourine for; then it changes to like funk halfway through (the guitar comes outta nowhere!!) Rance Allen is well...Rance Allen. IT'S OVER NOW: This is a bit more RnB laced...could imagine R Kelly doing this. Musically it's similar to Clubbin by Marques Houston and Kells. GOD DIDN'T GIVE UP: A bit more traditional gospel but has an old school soul vibe to it. Very nice. Lyrically it's very inspiring and thought provoking. WHAT LOVE: RnB laced again - nothing more to say about it really. However the backing vocals about halfway are soo good they don't become backing vocals knaamean? It happens in other songs too. YOU HAVE A FRIEND: Without a doubt one of my favourites on the CD. Neo-soul ballad. Reminds me of `What a Friend' by Montrell Darrett. This track would get 10 out of 5. AMEN: A review of this track wouldn't be worthy to describe it. It's got a worship feel to it... The choir is a bunch of angels...the music is beautiful...it's a wonder they found a way to end it - it's soo good you would have thought they'd fade it out...I'll stop here. DON'T WANNA LET YOU GO: The anointing spills over onto this track too - very similar vibe. I nearly got a sore throat singing this one so hard... CROSSROADS INTERLUDE: I'm glad it was an interlude - I don't think it would have worked as a full song. Not as good as the other songs in my opinion but it works for the theme of the album. It's an acoustic ballad - the music really does paint a picture in your mind of a crossroad. CROSSROADS: I like this a lot - once again lyrically thought provoking. It's urban and the Lady Life's rap ain't bad either. EVERYTIME: The urban vibe continues - musically Usher would probably do it. You have to hear it to understand. Very contemporary in comparison to the rest of the album. WON'T STOP PRAYING: More soulful/traditional - in 6/8 and everything ;-). Once again his background vocal arrangements are soo good they ain't background. TRUSTING GOD: Another ballad - reminds me a lot of Men Of Standards `Yet Will I trust in Him.' This is beautiful musically - simple - but beautiful. STIR THE GIFT: A slow soulful/traditional song - I like the chorus a lot. There's not much to say about it. PRAYER CHANGES THINGS: An a cappella song complete with handclaps and footstomps. It had me searching for my Zambian acappella tape. Musically reminds me of John P. Kee's churchy style. HAPPY: Reggae vibe. Not one I really put on repeat - it's aight. WALLS ARE TUMBLING: Dancehall vibe. It's gonna be big in church song services in my opinion. I love it but I can't help but think Pastor Paula Whites spoken interludes break the flow.

Can U Stand 2 Cross the Road?,
This review is from: Crossroads (Audio CD)
This is a Deitrick Haddon must-have! I can't say it enough. Deitrick said his life has changed in so many ways since his last release, Lost and Found, and it is evident here.
Folks, he has outdone himself here; it's hard for me to pick a favorite so I'll get right down to the gritty. First off - if he doesn't sound like the late 70's Michael Jackson on U.N.I.T.Y., I don't know who does! Let's throw up our hands and let go of the stresses, past pain, heartache and shame with "It's Over Now", an uplifting track with one of the hottest beats in contemporary gospel today! "God Didn't Give Up" is a strong message to the consistent and persistent hypocrites. (Don't let `em get ya down!) "Don't Wanna Let You Go" will have you out in the Spirit praising the Most High. "Won't Stop Praying" has an old-school feel to it, defining encouragement in the power of prayer. There are so many hints at various musical genres on here, it's crazy, but I love it. Finally, "Happy"...what can I say? I almost cried... I'll tell you why: I'd just received a personal message from the Lord concerning my own encouragement the day I bought this CD. I had not yet listened to it in its entirety but I did take a sneak peek at "Happy". A good friend of mine has been going through some serious trials lately and I was really feeling the song for her. Finally, I put the message I'd received and the song together - it was meant for me to get this CD, even if just for "Happy"! It's funny how God works. The cherry on top - the reggae beat! But it's not too strong, so everyone - young and old - should enjoy it. After popping Crossroads into my system tonight for my personal sit-down-and-listen-to-the-whole-thang session (a.k.a, private listening party), I couldn't even go downstairs for my beloved fresh-out-of-the-oven sugar cookies! Now you know... Crossroads left me happy. Let it touch your spirit. WILDFLOWER HAS SPOKEN! (Go ahead, it's okay to smile... >:-})

then get this CD. I have to admit at first listen to it, I'm like its not my style. But I hardly gave it a chance, I just wanted one song on the CD-Don't wanna let You go** Then I must have listened to that on repeat, I don't know how many times, but God's presence was in my house and I found myself closer than ever to Him. I then listened to another CD I purchased and that started the praise that night. The next morning I listened to his whole CD when getting ready for church and I love it! I was so full of life at service and I mean I was reconnected to God with joy in my heart that I haven't felt for months. God is good, and He has anointed this man of God with a special gift. Go and get your copy ASAP!!!
