If you want to learn more about your bible, this is the book. It's hard to find a good study reference to your bible that is not politically based. This book tries to be objective, but also keeps the faith. It achieves a nice balance in both regards. It is truthful and honest, and insightful, yet at the same time, attempts to build the faith. A good study aid to the bible I strongly recommend.

I am very glad that I bought this book. As a fairly new (Lutheran) Christian, I was not taught the Bible as a youngster. I am trying to expand my knowledge and understanding, and this book is so helpful and very interesting as well.

It helps me to really connect with the Readings and the sermon in church as well as material covered in Bible Study. The color illustrations and maps are just excellent, and a HUGE amount of useful Bible information is packed into the most compact format possible. I won't repeat what the first reviewer wrote because I agree with all of it.

This book really opens up the Bible to the interested Bible student and includes so much fascinating material. There is a good, basic index at the back so you can look up topics you are interested in learning about. You can read the book from beginning to end or just pick a section and read for a few minutes. Just to give a few small examples: illustrated information on how people in Biblical times lived with sections on clothes, housing, food, occupations, both Temples, etc. is just one part of the book; a list with descriptions of all of the OT Prophets is another, and there is also lots of Bible archeology material, but I couldn't begin to list anything like all the stuff that is covered.

If you are an interested Bible student buy a copy of this book. You will never regret it. You can pick it up and turn to any page and find really fascinating stuff.

I have ordered from Amazon many times, and did not have a problem.
Unfortunately, this time I did. I ordered 7 copies of a book and needed
them within 10 days for my class members. Six were sent in 4 different
shipments. I cancelled the last book as it wouldn't be delivered
until May. The original order was placed March 25th. I will continue
to order one book, but not more than that. The order by the way,
was for all new books.
