Please, please, don't even think about touching the "Add To Cart" button, you'll be shooting yourself in the foot twice over. This game is possibly the worst game I have ever played (and I am a very selective buyer). Everything about this game, and I mean everything, sucks to no end. The menu screens look like they could have come out of an NES game, the graphics aren't quite as pitiful, but they still date back to the Playstation/N64 era. The controls are just as disgusting. There are about five different moves that you can pull off, all of which look terrible and do nothing to the enemies. I found myself hacking away at one lowly grunt forever and he didn't die. Which brings me to possibly the games bigest flaw. The Aritificial Intelligence of the enemies. It is, without a doubt, the most absouletely possitively unfalibly terrible AI I have ever seen on a next generation console game. I think that the manufacturers tried to cover that up by making the enemies ridiculously hard to kill, but it just ruined this game more efficiently. All of the identical badies will occasionally run over to you, sort of pace around you, and then when you back away, they run back to where the where standing and just become part of the scenery. I could go on and on about all the horrible aspects of this game, but frankly, I don't even want to think about it anymore. Let me just say that after playing this game for about 15 minutes, I had immediatly decided to sell it. I don't know if this even matters, but for those of you who didn't get it from my review and my title, here are the games rankings:
(1-10)

Graphics: 2

Gameplay: 1

Replayability: ?(I wouldn't know becauase the game is too horrible to even finish)

Sound/Music: 1.5

Presentation: 1

Overall: 1.5 THIS GAME BITES TO NO END. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER BUYING IT. YOU WILL BE SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars At Least it was Better Than the Movie, January 26, 2005
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (Video Game)
I have been in many a situation in which the game was somewhat better than the movie, much the proverbial book (Get it? "The book was better than the movie"? Oh, just forget it). I can say without a doubt that I thought this game was slightly better than the movie. Of course, I thought that the movie was boring and without point, so that should give you an idea of what the game was like.

The game starts with you as the ninja lady from the film. You do rooftop jumps and wall runs and beat up the "good-guys." The rooftop jumps are pretty stupid, and the walls runs are unreasonably hard. Prince of Persia could do it. Ninja Gaiden could do it. This game couldn't.

The fighting system is lame. There are only so many combos to pull off (x,x,x; x,x,x,y; x,x,x,b) and many combos are reused on different weapons, resulting in boring, un-fun fun.

Then there's the blocking system. This had promise. There were stipulations: blocking still allows minor damage and if you block with a weapon long enough it breaks. However, you can avoid damage (to you and your weapon) if you "combo block." This is where you dodge the enemy's weapon in a style reminiscent of the film. This is at first ridiculously difficult as you try to figure out just what the heck they mean by "use the block button in sequence with the flashing thingy in the upper left hand corner of your screen." Once you realize what's what, it becomes far too easy to rapidly press the block button while the thingy is flashing. 9 out of 10 times it'll work.

This game is for the romantic nostalgics out there. You see, each time I played a level I softly said, "Hey, this reminds me of that level in Tenchu: Return from Darkness." Or, "This reminds me of that level in Red Dead Revolver." The only problem was the levels that reminded me of those games weren't as good as those games! Still, you have to give points to any game that allows you to end your own virtual life by leaping headfirst and screaming from a cliff. I wonder when they'll be a whole game like that?
