4.0 out of 5 stars Hard drinkin alt-country February 22, 2000
Format:Audio CD
People may conveniently put Slobberbone in the "Alt-Country" family of music. In this family, Slobberbone is the wayward cousin who works in the Quickie Mart, wears black concert t-shirts and drinks 40's straight out of the bottle. The music sounds like straight ahead rock, stained with a slight metal influence and fermented in the heart of Texas. Brent Best's lyrics will connect with anyone who spent at least some time in their lives binge drinking and messing around with the wrong woman. If you're the white linen type who hasn't done any of that in your life, you better pass on Slobberbone because you won't like it.
The album gets off to a rollicking start with it's first 4 songs, all excellent rockers that sound best with the amp turned up to 11. The pinnacle of the album is the trailer-trash anthem "I Can Tell Your Love Is Waning," a great tune whose lyrics paint bleak pictures of lower-class living. A little grisly though, not for the faint-hearted. And that goes for the entire album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Husgow tells us (to clarify the date) September 10, 2003
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Back around 1994, this alt-country/rock band released their first album, Crow Pot Pie, in the small numbers that most upstart bands do (500 or 1000 copies, depending on who you talk to). Texas based Doolittle Records (bought out by the band's current label, New West, several years ago) heard Crow Pot Pie and signed the band. As the band had evolved into a different line-up and the original production was sparse, Crow Pot Pie was re-recorded, dropping a few songs and adding a few different ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Band May 3, 2005
Format:Audio CD
This is probably my favorite band of all time. Ive been listening for 3 years. I was looking for their next tour dates and found out they had just played their last gig and broke up. I was so depressed after hearing this. Anyway, "I can tell ur love is wanin", "16 days", "dunk u in the river" are 3 of my favorites. You cant go wrong with this cd. If you dont lke like it at first, keep listening. It will grow on you. Ive bought all of their albums. I just wish they had more.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great beginning for slobberbone September 2, 2003
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I'm pretty new to these guys, although i do have their four releases. Apparently this album was realeased back in the day as an demo ep for slobberbone, but regardless its a very good cd. The influeces of punk and country really standout as does Brent Best's abilty to write great, humorous, heartfelt songs about drinkin, failed romance and the like. This disc is an essential for any fan of slobberbone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Slobberbone Rules! March 20, 2009
Format:Audio CD
This band is one of America's best kept secrets, not formally together now, but one of the funnest bands to see ever. I know these guys from Denton TX and you will never meet nicer and more talented guys. This is a second release of the Crow Pot Pie! Long live the Bone!
