Fans of the late Brandon Lee and of the movie "The Crow", I highly recommend this book. The book describes in detail of the events before and during the filming of "The Crow", from the creation of the comic book "The Crow" by James O' Barr... to the start of production... to the tragic shooting death of Brandon Lee... to finishing the film without Lee using computer technology and stunt doubles. It also talks about the other people involved in the movie, (i.e. actors, actresses, director, producer, stunt coordinator, etc...). This book not only describes the events that took place during the filming process, but also has a short, but informative bio on Brandon Lee before he took on the role as Eric Draven. The most gripping part of the book is when the author, Bridget Baiss, describes the events leading up the the shooting death of Brandon Lee, until his death on the operating table. It was so thoroughly described that I felt I was actually there to witness it for myself, it sent chills down my spine as I read it. For those who want to get the whole story of this amazing movie, and the tragedy that happened because of it, this is the book to read.

I really enjoyed reading "The Crow -Story behind the film"...every chapter,every page,EVERY WORD was exciting to read on through this book.Perhaps because I am such a Brandon Lee fan and still 'til this day do I believe that The Crow was arguably his best work ever..and this book tells it ALL~!......from its origins as first starting out being a comic book,trying to make this gothic love story into a film,the struggles of making the movie,of course the hugest tragedy which took the life of the young star,the cause of his death and how the movie was finished without the late Brandon Lee......the best part about this book was how the author got so much information from different cast and crew members who were all once part of the film....this was the best part about the book since I was so curious to know how each and every person who was responsible in making this film felt about making it and how they reacted to that fateful nite of the shooting .....as well as how they or if they ever learned to cope with this difficult experience.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book to every CROW/Brandon Lee fan or anyone who once saw this film and became interested in what exactly happened on the set to this promising actor who had such a promising future .......I have collected many Brandon Lee memorabilias in almost the past decade but I must say that this book is definitely the most treasured one I have since it closes the ending chapter to the person I admire so much.

As a longtime Crow fan, I was interested in finding out exactly what happened behind the scenes during the production of the film. Baiss' book does an excellent job of providing this information, through the use of quotes taken from several crew and cast members. My only criticism is how poorly the book was written. I am not sure who the editor is, but the book is riddled with grammatical and typographical errors to the point where I don't understand how it made it to publication. Her flow is also a little difficult to follow in places, although this may simply be a result of Baiss being a first-time writer. Also, most of the major individuals involved in the production of this film, including the director, would not speak with Baiss, so the account is mainly from the view of several cast and technical crew members. I would, however, recommend it for those interested in what really happened during production of "The Crow." I came away knowing more than I had before, even if I had trouble wading through all the typos.

This book surprised me. Although I am a fan of the original Crow movie, I didnlt expect the book to be so thoroughly researched. I was fascinated by all the details of how the movie came to be made, by the accounts of the struggle to shoot the film, and by all the characters. For the first time I understood exactly how Brandon Lee was tragically killed, and this part of the book was extremely moving and insightful. A gripping read !

The book is a great read, and extremely informative. You don't need to be a fan of the film or Brandon Lee to enjoy it - it is a fascinating insight into the making of a film in its own right. The events leading to the death of Brandon Lee are clearly thoroughly researched - and not at all confusing, as one reviewer asserted.

Where it falls down however is in the images department. There are some black and white stills from the set - I expected more. Also, even a cursory reading reveals multiple typos and harsh copy-editing problems, such as repeated sentences. Which is very disappointing in a not-so-cheap book I must say ...

I felt the author did an excellent job of educating readers about the production of the Crow, and movies in general. The book also personalized the death of Brandon Lee by providing such detailed and moving insights into the people involved with the project and with the movie's star. I felt the book started strong and kept picking up the pace and excitement as it went. I would recommend this book to any movie lovers or fans of the Crow.

This book does a good job of reviewing the Crow from concept through completion. A lot of interviews took place to form this book, and it is interesting to be able to hear the different voices that made up the movie; invariably you'll start to form opinions on the actors, producers, etc. but the one constant throughout is the respect everyone had for Brandon, and that's where the book is primarily enjoyable, as a chance to get a glimpse and what this rising star was like. It also finally fully explained the circumstances around his death. Pretty much confirming what I understood had happened, but in more detail so there is no confusion whatsoever. One word of warning, Alex Proyas, notorious for not speaking with the media, did not agree to be interviewed. If you're a Crow fan, you should pick this book up. If you're not, the least you will get is a view at what goes on behind the scenes in a movie production, and how the struggle to not exceed budget was a strong factor in a young star's tragic death. And tragic is the only word that can describe it.

I have purchased and read this book and I must say that it's the single most informative peice on Brandon alone! It tells about the movie in a very informative and tactfull way, and I think that Brandon Lee himself would've taken pride in this book.It is definitely a must for any Brandon Lee fan or fan of just the film itself! I thought this was a very good, very detailed, book. It covers the making of the movie from the time 'O Barr first conceived The Crow and up to the film's release.It's peppered with insiders viewpoints about how the film industry works and shows how much trouble it was to make The Crow from the start. It also gives a good understanding of Brandon Lee's personality and good humor and how traumatic it was for the crew to lose him, not just as an actor, but as a person. I gave this book 4 stars because this was Baiss's first book and it, unfortunatly, shows. While she took the time to collect all the mountians of detailed information for the book, which she did quite well, there are the occasional spelling errors and sometimes there were annoying long gaps between words. This is a highly insightful book and I highly recommend it.

I love this book so much. All of my emotions played out on this one. My reading was non-stop with this. I felt that I was in some of the scenes with Brandon Lee and I cried when I was reading the Gun Shot through the end. It was a terrible thing that happened to him. He died so young. I would defintaley recommend this to Crow and Brandon Lee fans! :)
