Although movies today are released with many songs on the soundtrack, they are there mainly to sell the soundtrack before the movie is released to DVD/video so that more money is made by the producers. Very rarely are they there to enrich the film, and even less rare is a soundtrack that perfectly captures the essence of the mood of the movie. Quite frankly, this movie raised the bar so high in both regards that I don't think it can ever be surpassed. It's truly incredible! I've listened to this CD dozens of times and I never tire of it. From the ultra-cool "Golgotha Tenement Blues" to Nine Inch Nails' wicked "Dead Souls", Rollins Band's brutal "Ghost Rider", and Jesus and Mary Chain's rockin' "Snakedriver", everything about this album is an alt-rock fans dream come true. If you like your music with loud guitars and screamingly intense vocals, yet with creativity and focus, you cannot go wrong with this album. I'm not going overboard when I say it's absolutley brilliant. What a shame it sells a lot less than most of the mainstream garbage that is released these days, and simply because it's considered too edgy and aggressive.

I recently watched "The Crow" on the Sundance Channel and although I knew about the movie I had never really seen it. I really liked the movie and ordered the soundtrack. I admired the tragic story esp. with the death of Brandon Lee in the making and the stylish filmaking, but there was something special about the movie and the soundtrack really takes you back to the movie. The soundtrack rocks and I am so glad I got it. Even without the movie this collection of early 90's rock really stands out.

I hate recent soundtrack albums. It's riddled with "what's hot" songs and genre jumping bands that rarely compliment the movie. That's why I appreciate this album more for it's ability to capture the mood of the film than the songs themselves. But don't get me wrong, there are some amazing songs on this soundtrack. The Cure's "Burn' (with crow cawing samples), a great NIN cover of Joy Division's "Dead Souls",and the fast paced industial tune "After The Flesh" from My Life With The Thrill Kill Cult, are all featured in the film and create an atmospheric backround for the movie's dark scenes. Even if you're not a big fan of the movie itself, the soundtrack gives listeners a great collection of some of the great songs from bands that were at their prime in the '90s.

Undoubtadly one of the best soundtracks of all time, this soundtrack captures the mood and feel of the movie perfectly. Plus this is the only time you'll ever see and hear The Cure, Stone Temple Pilots, Nine Inch Nails, Rollins Band, Rage Against the Machine, and Pantera on the same album. A true classic.

The Crow is my favorite movie of all time, hands down. The moving love/death/life/revenge plot coupled with Brandon Lee's exceptional performance and very talented supporting cast is more than enough than for The Crow to stand the test of time. However, probably the strongest point of the movie lies in its truly awesome soundtrack that captures the mood of the movie perfectly.

As great as the movie is, the soundtrack almost matches its caliber just by itself. A great compilation of independent, some unreleased, alt-rock tracks that add another dimension to the movie. Tracks like "Burn" from The Cure, "Big Empty" from the Stone Temple Pilots, "Color Me Once" from the Violent Femmes, the sentimental "It Can't Rain All the Time" from Jane Siberry, and my favorite, "Slip Slide Melting" performed by For Love Not Lisa.

Truly, a great movie will have a great soundtrack, and The Crow's amazing collection of songs make it one of the best of all time.

words cannot describe how this movie and music has touched my life. when i first heard about lees death i was shocked but coming to the realization that i might not see him in any more films came to this one. the soundtrack is purified to the brink of being probably the greatest soundtrack ever its has to intertwine with the movie and this does. raw voltage of energy and hard metal is the reason why this is a success. the cure , henry rollins rage and stp have made this album feel like your in the movie a great array of music combining with melody at the end.
everyone should own this album a great tribute to brandon lee and the movie thats spawn it a cult classic.

this collaboration set the mood for the crow perfectly. each and every one of the crow soundtracks are good in their own, but this one takes the lead. i love nine inch nails and dead souls (track 4) is one of their best. golatha tenement blues was a great song from a band i have never heard of called machines of loving grace (track 2). ghost rider is a decent song from the rollins band (track 7). after the flesh from my life with the thrill kill kult (track 11) sounds like something ministry did. over all great soundtrack.

"The Crow" soundtrack (which is dedicated to the memory of the late Brandon Lee who died while filming the movie and will always be remembered by the part he plays, whether he likes it or not) opens with a spellbinding, quintessential "Crow" song: "Burn" by The Cure, a song linked to the transformational movie scene where Eric Draven (Lee) decorates himself in white foundation, black leather and lipstick after revisiting his trashed apartment. Machines of Loving Grace's "Golgotha Tenement Blues" (#2) and Nine Inch Nails' "Dead Souls" (#4) follow in this same ambiance, keeping with the dark moodiness of the film. The heavier, more aggressive side to this soundtrack can found in tracks like [#9] "The Badge" by Pantera, [#10] "Slip Slide Melting" by For Love Not Lisa, and [#11] "After the Flesh" by My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult--all favorites of mine. After this last song, I generally turn the CD off before the remaining three sappy tracks, which wrap up with the Jane Siberry tune that's titled after the words in the movie: "It can't rain all the time." If you're a fan of this 1994 dark fantasy--or you just like the majority of alternative rock bands/artists on here--then this soundtrack is certainly worth owning. It's a great piece of "The Crow" nostalgia.

The Cure's opening track "Burn" is perhaps one of their best songs (and very appopiate for the Crow...and well placed in the film). "Golgotha Tenement Blues," "Big Empty," "Dead Souls," and "After the Flesh" are also well placed in the film, and are great songs that carry both the action and emotion of the film perfectly. Medicine's "Time Baby III" is a cool song too, but the gem is the end piece "It Can't Rain All the Time." Jane Siberry sings it beautifully, and is is just the sweetest song in the world (actually made me cry). Rage Against the Machine is not all that bad here, though I felt both it and Rollin's Band were inappropriate (I think Rollin's got confued between the leather-clad skull-heade spirit of vengeance and the crow). Pantera's song works in the movie, but on the soundtrack...it's just stupid. Jesus & Mary Chain's "Snakedriver" is a good reminder of the eighties, as is Violent Femmes' "Color Me Once" (after all that's when the Crow supposedly takes place), and "Slip Slide Melting" is an okay addition. Overall, this is one of the best soundtracks ever produced for one of the best movies ever made.

This was the first CD I ever purchased and revisiting it reminds me of what a treat some of this soundtrack was. The first half especially shines, offering mostly unreleased or rare tracks of good quality. Once Rollins band kicks off though the steady stream of metal recedes into more generic alternative and industrial territory, though the album ends on a mellow female vibe. The disc is well-rounded and has enough good songs by reputable, diverse alternative groups to seek out, but a weaker second side prevents this soundtrack from becoming truly great.
