An excellent anthology from Claire Lynch's rich repertoire, plus four superb new recordings with her current killer band (Missy Raines, 7-time IBMA Bass Player of the Year; Jim Hurst, 2x IBMA Guitar Player; Jason Thomas from Kane's River on fiddle/mando -- monster pickers, all). The 8-minute version of "Wabash Cannonball" alone is worth the price of this CD, just to hear what these musicians can do when they stretch out. Some of the new recordings are of classic songs from Lynch's days with the Front Porch String Band.

Great bluegrass and more from this no-boundaries, genre-bending artist, with selections that showcase her superb songwriting talent as well as that magical, inimitable voice. (The frequent comparison to Emmylou Harris is a shorthand that misses the highly distinctive nature of each voice.) It's no wonder that she's been tapped to record with everyone from Linda Ronstadt to Dolly Parton to Ralph Stanley -- but it's as a lead vocalist that she really shines. As Parton has said, Lynch has "one of the sweetest, purest and best lead voices in the music business today."

You could safely give this CD to someone who doesn't much care for bluegrass, and you could equally safely give it to a diehard bluegrass fan. This collection is proof that, just sometimes, the crowd is right!

I'll never forget when I first ran across Claire Lynch as part of the Front Porch String Band. It's not that she has the traditionally most beautiful voice you'll ever hear.....it's that it's the purest and most moving voice that I for one have had the privilege of hearing. Whether she's on the road singing harmony with Dolly Parton or doing her own thing, she surrounds herself with the best and I truly believe her to be the best of the best. P.S. should you purchase this CD, I promise you will never think of or hear the "Wabash Cannonball" any other way than it is presented on this recording. As much as I loved Mr.Acuff, I'm certain he's doing somersaults in Heaven listening to Claire's rendition of one of his trademark songs.

And how cool it was to hear the Claire Lynch Band on Sirius radio Sunday Sept 27th discussing their music.

Claire and her band really created a great CD. The standard "Wabash Cannonball" is fantastic (check it out on YouTube" and enjoy Misty Rains's bass solo! The other tracks are just as good! I would highly recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys bluegrass music!

XM Radio played a song (Wabash Cannonball)from this CD. It was the best version of that song I have ever heard. I bought the CD from Amazon and played the entire CD, several times. I enjoy every song Clair Lynch and her band perform. I believe this CD is as good as anything Allison Kraus and Union Station have made and that's saying alot.

The title 'Crowd Favorites' sums it up perfectly. This CD literally takes some of the most requested songs that Claire performs and puts them on one great CD. Clair's songs and music reminds me of back home in the Appalachians. I have nothing negative to say about his album.

Claire Lynch has put together a great collection of songs and musicians to make this one of the best bluegrass albums of the past few years. Her voice has the clarity to both harmonize with her accompaniment as well as stand alone. I would recommend this album to anyone who enjoys straight-forward, thoughtful and entertaining music.

I am a Claire Lynch fan and this is my favorite Claire Lynch album. Great music and arrangements. If you have to buy only one Claire Lynch album, this should be it.....

What's not to like about a Claire Lynch CD. Nothing, unless you've heard almost all of the music before.

For hardcore Claire fans this is a mixed bag. You have all the songs except for a few. But if you love her music, you will want those few. Especially the impressive Wabash Cannonball. So let's be thanksful for Amazon MP3 downloads, where we can get just the few songs we don't already have.

In the case of Hills of Alabam, don't assume that you have this one because you have the version with the Back Porch Stringband. This is a new version with Claire's most recent band (except that Missy, on bass here, is no longer with them). Her voice is sharp and clear on the earlier recording and softer and warmer on the version here. It makes an interesting comparison.
