This review is from: Crown of Horn (Paperback)
Over the past year, I've become a big fan of Louise Cooper's writing, and Crown of Horns is no exception. The story is about Rowan, a young woman recently split from her fiancee, who inherits her dead grandmother's house. Eager to get away from her city life and the unpleasant memories of her failed relationship, Rowan moves into her grandmother's house and soon settles into the quiet life of the village folk.
But, her new life is not the escape that Rowan had hoped it might be. The haunting sound of baying dogs haunts her at night, and terrible nightmares torment her sleep. By day, the house is often filled with the strange scent of roses, and an ominous presence seems to be watching her. Rowan is determined to discover the mystery of the Crown of Horn that her grandmother has left for her to solve, but will Rowan be able to find the answers before she is driven crazy by her situation? This was a great book, full of suspense and mystery. It kept me guessing right up until the end, and left me feeling well satisfied once I'd finished reading. |
