I've always loved smoked oysters but most brands come packed in cottonseed oil, which is vile to say the least. The Crown Prince oysters are packed in olive oil -- a huge step up in health and taste. They are convenient little bundles of protein that can be packed in a lunch, etc. They taste wonderful added to soup or stew. Great for last minute entertaining. Last but not least, I like to have a case on hand in my disaster supplies.

The South Korean oysters are the only ones I will eat, nice size, tender, flavorful. Avoid any from China.

Each can holds about nine oysters the size of your thumb. You taste the smoke, but the oyster is still the star. The texture is firm, not mushy. The oil doesn't detract from the flavor of the oysters at all. I even sop up the leftover oil with bread because it's so flavorful, or if I'm feeling generous, give it to the dog who loves it as well.
