5.0 out of 5 stars delicious and convenient
I've always loved smoked oysters but most brands come packed in cottonseed oil, which is vile to say the least. The Crown Prince oysters are packed in olive oil -- a huge step up in health and taste. They are convenient little bundles of protein that can be packed in a lunch, etc. They taste wonderful added to soup or stew. Great for last minute entertaining. Last...

1.0 out of 5 stars Great stuff, get it at Trader Joe's
This is a great product that I buy every week at Trader Joe's, where it costs two-twenty-nine a tin. If you were to buy twenty-four of them it'd be fifty-four ninety-six. This guy here wants over a hundred, which is practically double TG's price, so he gets one star from me for being such a smartas. Never buy online assuming you get a good price w/o comparing prices...

The South Korean oysters are the only ones I will eat, nice size, tender, flavorful. Avoid any from China.

Each can holds about nine oysters the size of your thumb. You taste the smoke, but the oyster is still the star. The texture is firm, not mushy. The oil doesn't detract from the flavor of the oysters at all. I even sop up the leftover oil with bread because it's so flavorful, or if I'm feeling generous, give it to the dog who loves it as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Of The Best Canned Oysters Around, February 17, 2008

Crown Prince Natural Smoked Oysters in pure olive oil are outstanding. They have a wonderful smoked flavor and even though they are in olive oil they have a very light taste to them, almost like they were just packed in spring water. The oysters themselves have a light color and firm texture, rather than the dark mushy type of cheaper brands.

These cans are smaller than most canned oysters and they are more expensive but the fact is, they are worth it. The best always costs more.

Everything about these oysters is excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yummy, but your roommate might object to the delicate scent, November 7, 2007

A great way to get your oyster fix without shucking or shuffling out to a restaurant. But unless you live alone or with fellow oyster-lovers, light a candle before you open can! The oil makes the scent linger. Plenty of dishsoap for the empty can is also a must.

I love smoked oysters and this product is exactly what I was looking for in terms of quality and safety. They taste far better than those packed in cottonseed oil, and are far more healthy. They are convenient and versatile. Take on road trips for healthy snacking, camping trips, use in dips and other dishes or just eat straight from the tin for a delicious and healthy alternative to salty snacks. Your imagination is your only limitation.

A rich decadent smokey delicious product, use with eggs for breakfast, on crackers or bread with cheese pickles etc for a snack, or add to salad, or in pasta with, olive oil, butter, tomato sauce, or just out of the can.

I read in a food review that Crown Prince Smoked Oysters in olive oil were hands down the best out there. They are delicious! For a quick meal, I cook a handful of linguine, dump a tin of oysters, oil and all, over, and grate some Pecorino Romano or Reggiano Parmesano on top. It's great! The other thing that impressed me is that these were about the same cost per serving as ordinary smoked oysters in cottonseed oil.

They seemed to taste better than the stuff that you get at Safeway (Clover brand). Overall, I'm really happy with the taste.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bought a can and wolfed 'em down!, December 30, 2009
This review is from: Crown Prince Natural Smoked Oysters in Pure Olive Oil, 3-Ounce Cans (Pack of 24) (Grocery)
I hadn't tried canned clams or oysters in years because I remeber sort of liking them and also eating sand or shell or something, so I was afraid to try them even though they supposedly are healthy to eat.

So, I summoned up the courage to try canned oysters again and bought a can of these, and I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not a huge oyster fan, but I could see buying these again sometime. So, the guy who doesn't like oysters a lot liked these, and that's saying something.
