Tongol Tuna,

This review is from: Crown Prince Natural Chunk Light Tongol Tuna in Spring Water (No Salt Added), 6-Ounce Cans (Pack of 24) (Grocery)
There is tuna and then there is Tongal Tuna. I was introduced to this type of tuna by my fitness coach. I was in training for my 1st bodybuilding competition at the ripe age of 67. This product not only has great taste but is low in sodium and high in protein. I would highly recommend this product, and especially the auto ship option, to anyone. Ca

Good Tongol in SPRING Water,
By TUCO H. "H. TUCO" (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Crown Prince Natural Chunk Light Tongol Tuna in Spring Water (No Salt Added), 6-Ounce Cans (Pack of 24) (Grocery)
This tuna is packed in 'Spring Water' which is much better and much harder to find in stores than just 'water' which has all the added chemicals and flouride you get from the tap soaked into the Tuna. I refuse to drink tap water in soups, in tuna, in juices with added water and everything else. Even "Whole Foods Market" doesn't carry Tuna in spring water anymore, they just discontinued their Tongol in spring water, which figures since they're a bunch of overpriced scam artists. I went to all the supermarkets in my area and couldn't find any Tuna in spring-water, only oil and tap-water.
Tuna is great for a high-protein diet because if you have the right recipe you can always eat it WITHOUT BREAD and it's almost always the best value for the money. With a high-protein / low carb diet you can just by that discipline alone maintain your ideal weight without hardly any exercise at all, although with exercise, especially about 30 minutes of cardiovascular aerobics, you will become healthier and better toned. Here's what I do: ' What I do is get Trader Joe's Mayo because it has no sugar added and I don't eat any sugar (most mayo has sugar added), especially refined sugar. Sugar and high fructose corn syrup is what poisons most food and turns into junk. 80 to 90% of the foods you buy in a standard supermarket will have some form of added sugar in it. Then I get some cans of "Embasa Chipotle Peppers in Adobo Sauce." This also has no added sugar and costs only about $1.18 per 7 ounce can in my corner supermarket. This same exact brand of Chipotle sells for 2.67 at Whole Foods Market, just to show what a rip-off Whole Foods Market is. Mix the mayo with two or three wet Chipotle peppers in a cup and then add the can of tuna and mix and shred it with a fork into the mayo and Chipotle peppers. Once it's all mixed well you already have the spiciest and best tasting tuna you ever ate. In fact, you will prefer it to most other meals. To add a bit of tasty healthy crunchiness I mix in some Trader Joe's Golden Roasted Flax Seeds. Sometimes I add a teaspoon of Hemp Protein for supercharging. If the tuna mix is a bit dry you can always add some pickles or chopped onion. I prefer to eat a few chopped pickled jalapenos with it which really kicks up the spiciness another notch.

No added salt - NONE - now thats LOW Sodium!,
This review is from: Crown Prince Natural Chunk Light Tongol Tuna in Spring Water (No Salt Added), 6-Ounce Cans (Pack of 24) (Grocery)
Look at other so called "low sodium" canned tuna and compare them to this, because it has NO added salt. You will be pleased with the fresh, light flavor, AND these are 6 ounce cans, not 4.5 oz or 5 oz, like most others. At $1.67 per can on subscribe & save, you can afford to stock up! To compare: StarKist Tuna Chunk Light Low Sodium In Water, 4.5000-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12) or Chicken of the Sea Tuna Chunk White Water, 50% Low Sodium, 5-Ounce Cans (Pack of 24).

Best Canned Tuna I Have Ever Had,

I really love tuna in all its forms. Canned tuna has always been an issue, not because I do not like it, but because it has so much salt added to it. I also worry about the mercury. This tuna has no salt added, which is great. I think it tastes far better with no salt. Also, this is Tongol Tuna, which is a smaller and different variety of the fish. I find I like Tongol better then other tuna's when in canned form. I find it smoother and more tasty. I like to drain the water, give it a good rinse, add a bit of olive oil and and maybe some horseradish. This stuff is great.

I specifically bought this product because of the "pop-top" They came needing a can opener which, for me, defeated the entire purpose! Very disappointed! In the description, it reads "pull top can." Deceptive web page....Crown Prince Natural Chunk Light Tongol Tuna in Spring Water (No Salt Added), 6-Ounce Cans (Pack of 24) Photo distinctly shows pop top......

As a bodybuilding hobbyist, I've eaten a LOT of tuna over the years. As the quality of national brands diminished, I realized it was time to move on. You know that feeling you get when you're doing something everyday, and then do something that makes you realize how much what you were doing everyday has changed? This tuna is one of them -- Starkist, Bumblebee, Chicken of the Sea, etc.. all became, well, the hot dog of tuna. The meat was unfresh, dry, dark meat, had the occassional bone, and outright had that nasty "fishy" smell, taste, and texture. Not this sutff. I can eat it raw. It's very white, the lack of pugnent odour indicates quality, and downright makes me nauseous to think what I've been eating all of these years. Oh, and they do this with NO SALT. With that said, the tuna lids are not easy-open like the picture. They're also very expensive considering you can get a can of the national brands for 60 cents at Walmart. I was willing to pay the premium to try it (and the easy pop top), and wasn't let down by the product -- however, the can lid requiring an opener is annoying (I eat it at work).

I was drawn to this brand and this particular product, because the can is BPA free. I love that there is no salt added and that it is packed in spring water. I believe there is less water and more tuna than most of the other brands I've tried. It is also a little lighter in color than the "chunk light" tuna I am used to. And the taste is incredible! I'm glad I bought a case!

I eat tuna almost every day for lunch. This tuna is more expensive than what you can get in the grocery store, but a much better quality and I still save money by not going out for lunch every day.
