I'm really not sure why this book has gotten poor reviews. Yes, it might be nice if the creator's name was attached to the item but this was hardly crucial. I actually enjoyed guessing if I picked the right artist! And these artists are some of my favorites. I found each and every creation exquisite and could not have asked for more. Perhaps the exact items and directions are not mentioned but I think this book should be used for a starting point for your own creations. I personally thought I got more than enough directions and I am certainly a neophyte in this area. I love it. I bought it despite negative reviews and each and every page is surely a "jewel" in its' own right.

Hail the Queen -- with an asterick*,

This review is from: Crowns & Tiaras: Add a Little Sparkle, Glitter & Glamour to Every Day (Paperback)
This is a charming, whimsical, clever and imaginative book. It clearly communicates and affirms the Joy Of Making Things, gives helpful hints about how to actually construct these delightful, excessive, and wonderful crowns; and will put you in touch with your Child Self. I am very happy that I ordered it, and will enjoy having it in my studio. *One complaint, and it's a whopper. Some utterly brilliant and creative artists designed and constructed these crowns and tiaras, and yet the reader is forced to flip to the BACK of the book to discover Who Made Which Crown. Artist credits do not appear with the photography. Not only inconvenient, but (more importantly) an odd way of acknowledging the rampant creativity of this group of Wonder Women. I'd like to toast all the designers who created work for this project. Let's hear it for the Girls!

Crowns and Tiaras,

What a great book. It brings out the princess in me and makes me feel like a kid again. I can't wait to get started. I plan to make a crown for all our family holidays and all the ladies can take turns wearing it. The photos are wonderful and the instructions make it easy. There are lots of things to choose from, and with the descriptions and photos, it will be easy to add my own touch. I have many, many books on various types of crafts, but this is the best in a long time.

I agree with the previous reviewer that the major flaw of this book is that it doesn't say who made what. One must flip to the back of the book to find the artist. Since the artists are listed alphabetically, the page credits are out of order, so it is necessary to scour the listing each time you want to find the artist for a certain crown. I also noticed numerous typos throughout; this book should have undergone a better editing process. This book doesn't give step-by-step instructions (I didn't actually find this to be a flaw). However, when listing the supplies for each project, a little explanation may have been useful to novice crafters; for instance, many people may not be familiar with "Dresdens." Even though I had the above complaints, I enjoyed the photography. This is a novel topic, and for the low cost of the book, I thought it was interesting to flip through. Am not sure I'd recommend buying it, though. Perhaps this is one to borrow from a friend.

Very nice little book, perfect as a craft for little girls with lots of mom's help. Mom even wanted some of these for herself! Lovely pictures, decent directions.

This past saturday I was in Warwick NY and saw this book, I knew right away I had to have it, the title says it all: Crowns and Tiara's who doesn't want to be a Queen for the day or of her own studio, I know I do. This book is filled with the most amazing crowns/tiaras and princess hats I have seen, I just love it and would recommend to all!Magic and Joy! Lisa!

I don't know why there would be anything negative to say about this book..It is so beautiful. There are large close up images of each crown. I love this book and am so glad I found it. The only thing negative in my opinion is that I don't have one of the crowns shown in the book!

This book was more of a "see what I made" than it was a craft instruction book because there was very little in the way of instructions. They gave you the basic ingredient list but not much in the way of detailed instructions. I'm not sure what type of a book it is; craft instruction or just pictures of what a group of ladies has created. If it is the latter then it has succeeded. If it is meant to be a craft instruction book, then in my opinion it has failed. I returned the book because I was looking for an instruction book.

Cute book but obviously a limited topic,

I have the book and I like it very much. I don't know how many tiaras I or anyone who buys the book may every make but the book does show some very fun ideas. A variety of materials can make all kinds of tiaras. Making one for a friend might be more fun than the little plastic ones people wear to milestone birthdays and wedding events. It is a very specific craft book so there isn't much to translate into other projects. But if you want to make a tiara that is not made of precious materials, you will like the book.

God's Anointed Crowning,

I was searching for a product that would partner with our next project "Anointed Crowning of God" in which we needed crowns for the ceremony. Crowns are expensive to buy!!!! With the economy being so rough, I thought creativity and crown building would be fun...and here was the little diamond in a bookstore called "Paris to the Moon"...in my view was a book already made called "Crowns & Tiaras"...I spent the last week dreaming, designing, and glueing and glittering crowns of many shapes sizes and designs. Simple and complex! Latina Crown, Beach Crown, Rose Crown & Crown Expecting are my original favorite self-designs which can be seen under "photography" on our website if you are curious. Crowns & Tiaras was perfect...a motivating factor for our Anointed Crowning project in Crown design for both men & women. Thank you to the Authors and their team builders. We have photos on our site of our completed crown work too. Everyone have fun and buy this book for ideas!Jennifer Hope Webster; President and Founder of ChatwithGod.org Ministries; Author of Anointed Crowning of God Chat With God: 40 Days, Prayer Journal God's Secret Wisdom GOD'S FEET: grief unedited... |
