Divine and Enchanting!,
This review is from: Crow's Magick Tarot (Cards)
This is definitely tops on my top ten favorite decks. I have been reading the tarot cards for people for several years, and I've used two or three decks before, but this one just stuck with me through the years. I have another box of this deck, unopened, just in case I lose the one I use (which will never happen).Traditional 78 card deck, 22 major arcana and the minor arcana. The World is replaced by the words "The Universe". I would say 96% of the cards have fantastic, computer-generated graphics that are just dark and gothic. I read an interview with the author of this deck, Londa Marks, and she said this is her tribute to the animal kingdom. I was also intrigued that what inspired her to create the Crows Magick Tarot was she was lonely about the loss of her son. When she completed work on this deck, by coincidence or miracle, she was united with her son! There are two keywoards that are printed on each card, but I personally find them quite misleading. This is by no means a beginner card. Experienced tarot card readers will either immediately connect to the fascinating imagery, or find their way around them. The astrological symbols printed on each card are also useful. For example- the Emperor has the Aries symbol on it. For the advanced reader, I suggest that you find the softcover book that used to be very much available. Because this deck depicts mostly animals and birds, it would be useful to find out the characteristics of the animals on this deck. I also suggest that when you use this for readings, be really on a very meditative state so that you will see further into the images on the cards. I give this deck five out of five. Thank you, Londa!

Used by many for stimulating psychic dreams.,
By Lightlore Books (Lawton, OK United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Crow's Magick Tarot (Cards)
I know a couple of psychics who have used this Tarot to stimulate their own psychic dreaming. I've got about 3 dozen Tarot decks and couldn't wait to get this one. It uses the language of magick-speak....the everyday symbols of people who are deeply into metaphysics and/or the occult....a stack of familiar books on magick, for example, float through the air in one of the scenes depicted. The colors and arrangement of grahics is highly original and stimulating.

Cryptic meanings are printed on each card. Sometimes the relevance of the card to one's question is difficult to fathom. Fortunately, I have done quite a bit of divining with other decks, so I have a good feel for which information units are more useful and relevant than others. I made up my own 156 card meanings for this deck, using the card meanings printed on the cards as my springboard. Also, I used the cards each and every evening to forecast the events of my next day. I was able to see specifically what the cards referred to in everyday reality. Based on that, I made some changes in nuance to the meanings of the cards. In this way I was able to put together a really nice, workable set of 156 meanings for the Crow's Magick Tarot. The meanings of the cards are easy to understand because I am the one who supplied them. I especially enjoy the mystical touch of the cards, and this often gives greater depth to interpreting the events in my daily life.

Otherworldly and Magickal, but Empty,
By Richard and Jennifer Shadowfox (Shadowfoxtarot.com) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Crow's Magick Tarot (Book and Card Deck Set) (Paperback)
Created by Londa Marks, this deck has a very otherworldly, magickal feel. Digitally enhanced images of wildlife intermixed with different geometric shapes then sprinkled with Astrological symbols, and the truth be told, there is actually very little Tarot here. Many of the animals and objects are simply repeated in different colors, or viewed from different perspectives, for example the same snake appearing with altered color, size and angle, on The Devil, The Universe, Death and the Strength card.
It is very much a love it or leave it deck, and I fell into the former category upon initial sight. Howver, the vivid colors and foreboding, almost post apocalyptic look is possibly better suited for more experienced readers. There isn't any cheerfulness or happiness depicted on The Sun, the Three of Cups, or the Four or Six of Wands, nor is there tragedy or catastrophe depicted on The Tower or the Nine or Ten of Swords. It has a nightmarish neutrality of no highs and no lows. The cards contain virtually none of the traditional symbolism, and although each card contains two keywords, which in most cases only scratch the surface of the cards meaning, a good beginners deck this is not. In the Minor Arcana the number of the card is represented by the number of objects of that suit, with Coins replacing Pentacles. In the Major Arcana Strength is XI and Justice is VIII, trading places from the Rider/Waite/Smith. The Crow's Magick Deck is a mesmerizing mixture of creature and space, color and object, and what I find appealing about this deck is inherent to me. Every individual must decide for themselves what is appealing to them, but what truly defines an individual is not what, but why, or why not? I have read that the Crow's Magick Deck is sometimes used as a meditation tool to induce psychic dreaming, so if you are drawn to this deck, perhaps a path to your own why has been placed before you.

Truly magical and deeply evocative, this deck is very powerful and goes beyond traditional symbolism seen in most decks. This is far more than just a computer generated deck, it is a powerful tool to the subconscious and takes someone capable of seeing beyond the immediate to truly use it.

The Crow's Magick Tarot Deck,
This review is from: Crow's Magick Tarot (Cards)
This deck has beautiful color and metallic imagery that captures your eye against the black card back. It is a great deck to look at and use after learning from white card backs. It feels like a new level of tarot reading. Truly capturing the magic of the crow and incorporating other animal magics as well. I use about 8 different decks, and this one is my favorite for evening readings.

I bought this deck on the impression that it contained interesting abstract imagery, which while deviating from traditional tarot symbolism, was useful for mediation. I believe I expected a greater deal of detail, surrealism and artistry, and my expectations were not met--I admit a bias for decks like Shapeshifter, Thoth, Cosmic Tribe, Celtic, and New Palladini--I love detail, skilled artistry, and a wide range of vibrant colors. Even if a deck plays loose with meaning and correspondences of the tarot, a deck can still be an enjoyable part of my collection simply on its aesthetic merits alone. Another reviewer was dead on accurate in saying the Crow's Magick deck looks like clip art. While the deck does have a few interesting cards, the deck as a whole is a bland, visually unappealing collection of cut-and past images and repetitive textures, colors and 3-D effects. A fifth grader learning to use PhotoShop in art class could have done this. Sorry to be so harsh, but its true. I tried hard to love this deck, to find its unique charm and appeal, and I just couldn't.

Disappointed in Crowe's Tarot,

I have been looking for a tarot deck with birds, ravens or crows in particular as Ravens are familars for me and I have had a family of them at my home for years.
In purchasing this deck the picture on the cover and the internet's assessment of "beautiful cards" made me choose this deck. The deck itself was commissioned by a person with "shaman" tendancies which would be good for anyone with native american blood or connections. Upon arrival and looking and "feeling" the deck, it severely lacks "cohesiveness" with me. The cards are more abstract where the artist attempts to impress with visual images rather than real life bird images. The deck is for someone wanting "entertainment" at parties NOT a deck for someone who connects with the true spirit of the tarot.

a cold deck,
This review is from: Crow's Magick Tarot (Book and Card Deck Set) (Paperback)
While in purely technical terms this is a completely servicable deck in set up- I find the imagery contained therein cold and heartless. I am quite used to abstract art in my tarot cards- but the computer generated imagery followed by the very out-there connections made this a disappointing deck to me for anything but simply reading the minor and major arcana by their basic meanings.
There is also a poor choice in the major Arcana for 'The Hanged Man'. Evidently no one warned the artist of this deck that inverting a holy symbol, such as Christ upon his Cross from christian belief, is demeaning and defiling of it.

Interesting, but lacking.,

This review is from: Crow's Magick Tarot (Cards)
I ordered this deck without knowing anything about it, and I have to say that I at least was not really very impressed. The artwork to me seemed almost to be just made up of clip art. The images used on each card did not seem to have anything to do with the card itself. They were stylish, and one could say pretty in what I found an unremarkable way. But that is all, these cards did not speak to me.
