After all the caution about which memory to use, I called Crucial and they confirmed this is indeed the 8 Chip version for the ASUS 1015PN. I just got this memory a few minutes ago (Amazon Prime!). Popped it in and am writing this review. I've got 2G now.

Did not have a problem that other folks seem to experience with Lenovo S10-3.

And was cheaper from Amazon than buying from Crucial.com.

Amazon backs up your purchase.

I have had a lot of lip from Crucial when I had a return to them in the past. And they will slip in extra charges for tax and delivery. Always a surprise with Crucial charges on your credit card--the "Box of Chocolates syndrome" when buying direct from Crucial!

Amazon has easy returns.
I always try and buy first from Amazon.com.

The ram was easy to install. It booted right up and works!
System has XP home as OS.
But, I really don't think it improved the speed of the computer much, if any at all.

Lenovo should have maxed out the 2 gig limit from the get go.
I would guess Lenovo wants to upsell you for more money.

Lenovo should just go ahead and install the 2 gig stick.
It would only add 3-4 dollars to their cost when building the computer.

I've been working in DRAM development (not in Micron) for years. That why I chose Crucial from Micron. Crucial is micron's mass market brand. The DRAM module actually has a micron tag in the front and the Crucial tag at the back. The one I got has 16 dies on it so they are 1Gbit chips. Maybe not as good as 2Gbit ones (then you'll have 4 chips on each side)

Anyway, above comments mean nothing basically. The timing for PC3-10600 is 9-9-9 not for critical gamers but good enough for me. It's the same price as a PC3-8500 one.

It works fine with a Samsung 1GByte module in my ThinkPad X200. The unknown is the long time reliability. This is why I only choose from top manufactures (Samsung, Hynix, Micron, etc...). I don't really trust the test flow from smaller packagers (those who buy chips from few manufactures I mentioned and solder them to there PCBs)

Anyway, support for the only western DRAM manufacture. (I was from then-another one, but...)

Oh, Quick free shipping from J&R using UPS-USPS route. (So you loose tracking once the package entered USPS)

I had read a review on this memory board some months ago and finally decided to upgrade my own netbook. But First.. you must upgrade your Win 7 OS to a higher level. Win 7 Starter won't cope with memory in excess of 1 Gig so do that first.

The extra memory allows the Netbook to load programs faster, flip thru photos faster and shut down significantly faster (in the 20 second range) after applying software changes found on the internet.

Prior to this upgrade my netbook would periodically do some housekeeping or some other unknown internal stuff and not respond to the keyboard or touch pad for a few seconds. With the memory upgrade these housekeeping tasks are done as needed and don't seem to accumulate so that the computer doesn't have to take those little breaks anymore.

The Acer 521 was a great netbook before this upgrade and now with the extra memory it really shines. This is a highly recommended upgrade, do it.

The memory was delivered in a very timely manner. I actually ordered the RAM at the same time that I ordered the 1015PEM (from separate stores). The RAM showed up many days before I even had the computer! I installed the memory module myself and it was a snap. The installation of RAM in general is never a hefty task. My computer recognized the RAM and it works flawlessly! Not too much else I can say!

Popped it into my Asus 1215n, and it worked instantly. Ran the memory diagnostic tool, and the card is perfect. And the seller -- ACH24 -- shipped next day, and has a 30-day return policy. Very happy with the product and the seller!
