This review is from: Crucial Classics: How to Enjoy the Best Music in the World (Paperback)
If you're new to Western Classical music and want to get into it, you're probably presented with a severe problem, namely, where to begin. If this is so, then this book solves the problem by providing concise and insightful anecdotes on most of the major composers and their works. So it's essentially a compendium of reviews, but mostly I agree with the author's perceptions and recommendations.Very well written, so even if you're not a music buff, I still recommend this book for any sort of reading. |
