4.0 out of 5 stars Crucial Conversations a great strategy, May 27, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Crucial Conversations and Crucial Confrontations Value Pack (Paperback)
This is my third purchase of this series, I keep giving it away. I saw the series presented as a "required" class at my customer site. I decided I better speak their language. We were having tough times communicating and I felt the customer didn't believe us and didn't know why. Instead of animosity we created an environment of safety. I was aware of my (and team's) tendencies under stress, we quickly could recognize when a crucial conversation was going the wrong direction. Once you have the tools to recongnize a safety problem, a strategy can pull it back on track to make progress. I bought it for work, and use it at home as well.

This book is great at pointing out the subconscious decisions that we make during encounters with others. After reading the book and analyzing how you react in certain situations, you'll be able to improve the quality and effectiveness of your "high stress" conversations. I'd recommend this book to anyone who wishes to be a more effective communicator.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Resource Available for Leaders, March 4, 2010
This review is from: Crucial Conversations and Crucial Confrontations Value Pack (Paperback)
The authors found that 80% of the time we do just fine in our communications, but when it matters most, we do our worst. They offer a simple, sound strategy to improve our skills to stay in conversations that are high stakes and highly emotional. I have used this book with hundreds of leaders and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to build their skills in this area.
