I initially bought this memory from Amazon. It actually slowed down my computer and made it extremely difficult to boot up. My time for returning it to Amazon was up (I would only get partial reimbursement), so I contacted Support at Crucial.com. They have a lifetime guarantee on all their memory. I sent it to them and they sent me replacement memory which works fine.

This is NOT Amazon's fault -- anyone can get a defective piece of memory -- I just waited too late to install and try it out.. The important point is that Crucial honors all memory, regardless of who you purchase it from. Just be sure and save your receipt to prove you bought it and they will give you an RMA to send it back for replacement. My overall experience with Crucial products, including their solid state drives, has been outstanding quality.

I use Autocad, Picasa, Photoshop, Google Chrome, Google Earth, and Adobe Acrobat with multiple PDFs and web browsers open while I work.

Autocad 1GB + Photoshop 1GB + Chrome 1 GB + Picasa 1 GB + multiple PDFs 1 GB = 5 GB

My computer is a $1200 HP from Costco that I bought two years ago. It came with 4 GB of memory but when I run all my applications, they take up about 5 GB of RAM. When you max out your RAM the computer is uselessly slow and it could take up to 40 seconds for a new program to open, especially a program that uses up a lot of RAM like Autocad 2012 or Adobe Photoshop. It is very frustrating using Autocad when you have to wait a few seconds for each little command. Those few seconds of waiting add a lot of stress to your life.
But now that I upgraded my computer to 8 GB of RAM my computer runs like a champ! I can use all my programs simultaneously with dual 24" monitors, and there is no lag. If you work in an office and do a lot of multi tasking like Microsoft Excel and Word, with multiple PDFs and Pictures and photo editing, and AUTOCAD, then it is worth every penny. Amazing Value! But I'm sure in about two years all the programs are going to be bigger and take up more RAM and I'll need 16 GB but at that point I'll buy a new computer. That's my routine. Buy $1200 desktop from Costco wait two years, then buy upgrade Ram from Amazon, use computer for two more years, then buy a new one.

For XP this is overkill since XP 32 bit can only address 3.5 gigabits. But it works good. If I go to XP 64 it will use all 4 gigs.

It seems my memory issues have ceased since installing this product!

After upgraded my PC from WIN XP to WIN 7, it kept freezing. There were no error messages indicating what the problem was. As I stepped through some basic troubleshooting procedures, my disk defragmentation continuously hung, however all hard drive tests did not indicate a bad drive. When I specifically ran other tests that also tested the memory, a blue screen would occassionally occur. When I switched to some older/slower memory, the tests passed. I updated the PC to the new Crucial memory (based on some specific memory tests recommendations) and all has been well.

These items were as advertised and shipped quickly. My only beef is that I could only get the memory to run reliably at 800, not 1066, even though the DIMMs are on the approved list for my GA-EP35-DS3P motherboard. This could be a problem with my motherboard rather than faulty DIMMs, but it was still disappointing. Buying PC2-6400 memory would have been considerably cheaper. I decided to keep them rather than return them on the chance that I can still find a BIOS configuration that will let them work at 1066. If not, I will chalk it up to experience.

While DDR II is getting more and more expensive, and it's going out and DDR 3 is replacing it, this fit the bill that I was looking for, so for the money it worked without all those fancy heat sinks and gadgets that don't make the computer run any faster.

The product was exactly as described. When we added the ram to our computer, it helped our computer immensely. This is the first time I have ordered/purchased ram for my computer. It was a good purchase. Thank you.
