I purchased these for my brand new MacBook Pro 2.53 and I have to say it works like magic. I did not even run the MacBook on its original 4 GB, however my boss and his boss both have the same MacBook minus the memory upgrade and I'd have to say after trying their laptops there is a really big diff.

I have Mac OS X running side by side with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. No slowdowns whatsoever on both OS'es.

This upgrade is worth it, and is much cheaper than Apple's upgrade, and also Amazon sells it at a far better price than if you buy directly from the manufacturer. Gotta love Amazon !

I ordered this RAM package for my late 2008 15" 2.53GHz MacBook Pro running OS X 10.7 Lion. Apple claims the maximum supported memory for this system is 4GB. However, on December 8, 2009, Apple released an EFI firmware update which quietly allowed affected systems to be able to address 8GB of RAM. "Other World Computing" reported this discovery in March 2011. I decided to give it a go and sure enough, my system is running perfectly without any problems (make sure your Boot ROM version is MBP51.007E.B05 for this specific system). I ran a full memory test and not only are all 8GB available, but I haven't experienced a single kernel panic or crash. I'm thrilled with the results. Now I can edit raw files in Aperture without sluggish performance.

----------UPDATE 8/18/2012----------
Still working flawlessly on OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion. I've never had a single hiccup or even the slightest indication of trouble. I even took it into an Apple Store for an unrelated (battery) diagnosis, and when they hooked it up, all the systems (including a test of the RAM) came back with a green checkmark (which means it's working to Apple's approved factory specifications).

One of the best upgrades I've made to my Mac, aside from an SSD upgrade. Awesome!

I put this in my Mac Mini (even thought the published spec is 4GB). It works like a charm and allows me to run multiple Windows virtual machines without any major slowdowns.

I was confused between Kingston Apple 8GB Kit (2x4GB Modules) 1066MHz DDR3 SODIMM iMac and Macbook Memory (KTA-MB1066K2/8G)
and Crucial CT2KIT51264BC1067 8GB 204-PIN PC3-8500 SODIMM DDR3 (4GBx2). I am happy that I bought Crucial. Without any doubt Crucial is better RAM than Kingston. But Kingston positioned their product as "Apple" RAM. I was really annoyed with Kingston as they haven't published their RAM's CAS latency. Latency could make a huge difference and they sort off evaded their customers by not putting that in spec. It seems they could just put "Apple" name and skip all the important tech spec. I am happy that after dithering a lot I took to courage to ditch Kingston (I hate those manufacturers who are not honest with their product spec) and buy Crucial. I have been running my MBP for last 2 weeks and haven't faced a single problem. It's running smooth, flawless and without any crash. I think not much to write about a RAM. Installation was very easy (watch video on Youtube) and Amazon is flawless in their delivery as always.

Although the original late 2008 MacBook Pro supported only a total of 4 gig memory, if you install the latest firmware upgrades, and the latest Snow Leopard operating system, the device will support and use two 4 gig memory strips for a total of 8 gig. The memory is seen in both the Mac OS, and the BootCampe'd Windows 7/64 partition.

I ran both the Windows 7 memory test and the Mac's diagnostic disk memory test for 24 hours, and no problems at all.

Things run speedier with 8 gigs, especially virtual machines. Upgrade was well worth the cost.

Only caveat: you'll need a teeny-tiny philips screwdriver to remove the Mac's bottom cover. And I mean teeny-tiny.

This is the third time that I've ordered and used Crucial memory products in computers and the third time I am 100% satisfied with what I got. From a 2GB stick for a netbook, to 8GB (4GB x 2) DDR3 memory modules for notebooks, it works every time. No compatibility issues. OS recognizes the new memory immediately upon start up.

Price is very, very reasonable and you're getting a better product by ordering from Amazon or from Crucial.com directly.

Considering Crucial's parent company, Micron, is one of the few true manufacturers of memory in the world and they make some of the most reputable SSDs in the market nowadays - although I strictly use Intel X25-Ms in my computers - it's a brand worth trusting.

Very happy with the purchase.

I upgraded my 2009 iMac from 4GB of RAM to 8GB using this kit. The process was extremely easy and well documented on line, you don't need to be a tech to do the work. It basically involves removing a single screw, pulling out the old RAM using the plastic tab, reseating the new RAM, and putting the cover/screw back on. Make sure you discharge any static electricity before picking up the chips though!

The Crucial Memory works great - no flaws, errors, or anything but extremely fast performance. I wanted this kit because I use my iMac to do a lot of work with videos and to run a Windows 7 virtual machine. Everything runs a lot faster. The Windows 7 machine performs wonderfully with the 4GB I've assigned to it; it boots quicker and loads applications as fast as it would from a machine running Win7 natively. The best thing is that switching between Windows and Mac OSX is now very smooth, no more waiting or delays, it's just like having Windows running as another app on the desktop.

If you like to run a lot of applications, or memory intensive applications, at the same time, this is the best performance boost you can give your existing Mac - and it's a lot cheaper than having it installed by the manufacturer!
