5.0 out of 5 stars Crucial memory is great.
The memory installed easily into my Dell Dimension 4600. I now have a total of 4GB of ram in this system. It runs much faster, cooler and quieter. My fan was always running in overdrive with only 1GB. This has allowed me to go a while longer until I have to upgrade the entire computer system. Overall I feel it was a good investment.

2.0 out of 5 stars 50% isn't Good Enough
A couple of years ago, I replaced the memory in my Dell. I only had 1 gb, and I had started using Photoshop and other image editing software. I purchased 4 Crucial 1 gb memory modules to max out my Dell. Yes, the additional memory made everything whiz along. In the last six months, two of the modules have failed at different times. That's twice that I have had to...

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice product from a US based company, December 19, 2007

Crucial is a division of Micron Technology, which company is the sole remaining US based DRAM maker. I recently installed this memory kit in one of our computers and everything went perfectly. An excellent quality product at a good price. What isn't there to like about that? With Crucial products you get the end product from a known quality DRAM supplier with a vested interest in the end product being perfect. With most other suppliers you have no idea who makes the actual memory chips at the heart of the thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works with no problems, May 29, 2008

Reviewing memory is like reviewing color, "Is it the right color? yes, otherwise, it's the wrong color!" The memory was very compatible with my Sony VAIO desktop computer. 2GB of memory as stated and the computer saw 2GB as well. Performance noticeably increased. I needed additional memory because I use Sony's Movie Studio to create movies written on DVDs. I went with Crucial because of "peace-of-mind" that it will work as stated without any problems. Works great!

I ordered this item along with another item. Prompt shipping. Memory sticks did not fit my computer (not Amazon's fault) & had to return the memory. The return was handled without any hassles & I received credit for the item. What a pleasure to deal with a large company that treats customers in the old fashion way - like a valued customer!! Amazon has been my online "go to" shopping source and certainly will continue to be.

It made a big difference in my PowerMac Dual G5 2.0GHz to go from 1.5 GB RAM to 3 GB RAM. Leopard performs much better with a lot of RAM. Disk access was dramatically reduced. Totally recommend it.

If your computer is slow moving from window to window or slow opening programs. This is a quick and easy fix. Even easy for a NON-computer geek. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat!

I bought this ram for my aging HP and it works great. Went from 512mb to 2gb and now everything is fast and smooth on my Linux machine (Ubuntu 9.10). 3D effects are close to flawless now, no more glitchy movements. Games are smoother too. XP runs better now as well. Boots up and shuts down faster too. No problems with my computer recognizing the memory. Over all I am very pleased.

2.0 out of 5 stars 50% isn't Good Enough, July 27, 2011

A couple of years ago, I replaced the memory in my Dell. I only had 1 gb, and I had started using Photoshop and other image editing software. I purchased 4 Crucial 1 gb memory modules to max out my Dell. Yes, the additional memory made everything whiz along. In the last six months, two of the modules have failed at different times. That's twice that I have had to trouble-shoot my computer. Memory problems aren't always the easiest to locate. Ultimately, it involved putting one module in at a time, booting the system to see if it comes up, then shutting it down and changing to another module. The process has to be repeated for each module.

In short, I have original memory modules that I used for 7 or 8 years with no failure, and I recently installed them in another computer to continue using them. 50% of my Crucial memory only made it a couple of years. Maybe I'll replace it all with Kingston. After all, they are the world's largest independent memory manufacturer, and I installed Kingston memory in hundreds of PCs at one of my jobs. I don't recall any of it failing.

By the way, I see that one reviewer noted that Crucial was the last U.S. based memory company. I'm not sure what the point of that is, considering that it plainly states on each module that it's made in Singapore.

Got this 2gig kit in 2 days, installed into my Dell Inspiron 4600 in 15 minutes and my computer is much faster than before. It hasn't locked up since install where before I used to lock up on the net at least once or twice a week running my 1 gig of memeory. I can visit websites I was afraid to visit and actually run one or two other applications while I'm on the net. I want reinforce the advice given on other reviews with regard to making sure your computer is compatible with the memory you are buying. Crucial has a great website for figuring this out.

Crucial makes a quality product. The memory just snapped in click, click. No fuss, no muss. Other brands i've used seem to need a little extra wiggling and coaxing to get them to seat properly in my aging or ancient Dell Dimension 8300. Passed memtest. I have had the memory in for almost a month, no problems yet.
