I am thrilled to have found this reasonably-priced, well-made filter to use with my Dyson! I was one of the idiots who never washed the original filter with my machine until all of a sudden it was completely clogged and my vacuum stopped sucking! A suck-less vacuum really...well...it sucks! I needed my vacuum to suck again and went and found some helpful info online about washing the filter that included the line that I needed to wait a full 24 hours for the filter to completely dry before reinstalling and using my Dyson again. I washed the filter in the dead of winter and ended up having to wait a lot longer than 24 hours for it to completely dry during which time my house was being taken over by dust bunnies and floating clumps of cat hair and that is what prompted the purchase of this filter. Now I can constantly keep a spare filter cleaned and ready for use! WOO HOO!

Fits perfectly, works great, and much cheaper than the Dyson brand! Just like a previous reviewer, I never remembered to wash my original filter until I was in the middle of cleaning and realized the vacuum was no longer working. So I bought this as a "backup" filter to use while waiting for my Dyson filter to dry. It's no longer just a backup though - I use both filters interchangeably and do not see a difference in performance at all. Great product!

Pros: Fits a DC17 perfect, improved suction over the 5 year old filter, cheaper than Dyson brand
Cons: It wasn't free? There isn't a white 6 on the filter like the Dyson brand?
Other thoughts: It was a quick pop and replace, not problems getting the new one in. Even if you're washing them regularly filters tend to wear out over time. Don't throw out that old Dyson, replace the filter, belt, beater bar and clean off the gear. It's like a new sweeper.
