From Booklist
To paraphrase Dinah Washington (always worth doing), what a difference three years makes! Since the last "Fusco Brothers" collection, Newark and Reality . . . Together Again, the comic strip world has suffered a sea change. "Bloom County" and "Calvin and Hobbes" are kaput, Charlie Schulz is so long in the tooth that maybe "Peanuts" is next, and "Zippy" still hasn't greatly increased its outlets. As far as hip strips in general circulation go, the Fuscos are now it. So who's complaining? A virtuoso of the intentional misunderstanding, the snappy comeback, the silly pop-cultural allusion, the good old pun, and the joke spoofing his own medium, Duffy makes the Fuscos seem like not-all-that-distant cousins of the Marxes, except each of the Fuscos--their dog-who-insists-he's-a-wolverine Axel, too--has a touch (heck, Lance has got a fistful) of Groucho in him. Priceless! Ray Olson
