An Eclectic Collection,
This review is from: Cruise Record 1995-2000 (Audio CD)
For the founder of TM Nettwork and producer of a multitude of groundbreaking J-pop acts to still be around on the cutting edge of Japanese pop music is astounding, especially considering he got his start a year before YMO even broke up! What is even better here is that you can get a great sampling of Globe's music, without having to take out a large bank loan to finance another j-pop collection, by getting this here complete collection of their singles (many you might recognize from Japanese TV themes). Komura-san is smart enough to handle the music chores by himself while alowing a very energetic multilingual duo handle the singing duties (One of them is a French Japanese national to give you an idea). They all take their music very seriously and try to push boundaries in a very rigid Japanese music industry.

Cruise Record is the best album of Globe, because it includes all singles and 10 new songs. If you like Japanese songs, you have to try this album. I really like it!

I know a lot of this music is at least 10 years old, and wasn't meant to be reviewed after the fact. But to kind of give an idea of how some music ages gracefully, while other music doesn't--- for the most part, Globe has survived with originality and interesting tunes.
Some of my favourite tracks are: Anytime Smokin' Cigarette (most favourite on this 2disc set) Love Again Can't Stop Fallin' In Love Faces Places However, there are a few tracks that definitely show their age and IMO really didn't age well. Feel Like Dance Sweet Heart Sweet Pain Joy To The Love Wanna Be a Dreammaker (I really don't know what all the hype is) All in all, it's a nice collection of the 1st half of Globe's career. The price is a bit steep. But it's definitely worth checking out for someone looking to be introduced to Globe. For someone whose first language isn't Japanese, it's a nice sign that Globe is making music that can cross language barriers.

Makes you feel like dancing!,

I bought this when I was 12 years old in a duty free shop while we were travelling. I loved how great it sounded on my walkman, the tunes never go out of style and is refreshingly upbeat. The lyrics are also done in a way that does not bore you easily. Kinda like being in Japan!
