5.0 out of 5 stars Preserving a lost era
This is one of those CDs you don't buy for the music per se (though all the tracks here are just fine, thanks), but for the ambience. This recreates an hour of listening to WMCA in New York in 1963, complete with commercials, jingles, weather, high school contests, and DJ patter. 2.0 out of 5 stars Cruisin 1963
The ads fade in to the songs, just like on the radio. If you just want to hear the music, this CD isn't for you.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a Rock and Roll time capsule-Never Again, October 8, 1998

This is a very special album. It takes you back in time. Just think, if your were living in New york in 1963 you would have been a big listener to the WMCA GOOD GUYS,. Pleae pay close attention to the dialog . "The Bemmer" mentions some very key inside people.. You have to be a Record Bis Person from the Al and Dicks era to really get some yaks .....THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER WMCA, OR B. MITCHELL REED....

The absolute best D.J. in New York during the 1963-1965 time when WMCA with its Good GUY Sweat Shirts and "Name it and Claim it" contests ruled the airwaves. The cd has been reduced in size from the original LP release because of legal problems. Would love more live shows of BMR

5.0 out of 5 stars A Real"Bell Ringer" !, November 9, 2007

B.Mitchell Reid,or"B.M.R."as he used to like to call himself, was one of new york city based WMCA radio's "Good Guys",and this CD brings Reid back,in all of his wacky,bell-ringing glory...Along with the songs of that era(which,by the way,is NOT the resaon for anyone to buy this CD..the songs are secondary to the D.J. patter, the period commercials, and the A.M.radio memories)Reid gets to display his fast-talking wildness, complete with whistle-blowing,horn-beeping,and,of course, his patented bell-ringing..Also there are commercials for the 1963 Rambler, and the"23"Dodge models, allowing the car buyer to"move up to mid-price"..Also contained on this album are the "Good Guy" jingles, sung mainly by morning anchor Harry Harrison, with "Dandy Dan"Daniels,Gene Spector, and Reid himself in the chorus..If you remember the WMCA Good Guys, like I do,or if you'd like to experience personality-driven A.M.radio,circa New York City;1963,then this is the album for you...
