If i removed two lenses, i could easily put the grip on the camera and and store it in the bag.

This new version has a nice feature which allows you to cover the velcro closures and rely on the two plastic pinch locks.

as far as weight goes, packed completely, it is not to heavy, as i would imagine the 7MDH would be. It's not too wide, although, make no mistake, this does not really look like a messenger bag. It looks like a portable soft cooler. My wife thought it was a lunch container/cooler.

I like it though, i think it's less conspicous than other camera bags, although not stealthy as others emphasize.

Construction seems very nice, the bag seems pretty sturdy and supported throughout.

UPDATE 4/4/2011

So i've had this bag for almost 2 years. Still looks great. There was a few months here where i swtiched to a messenger bag and/or just carried my camera in a diaper bag...but then i tried this as a diaper bag...Has some padding which is sort of like insulation and dividers...so i would carry a diaper, wipes, bottle and food and still have room for my camera with a small lens (nikon 50 1.8 or sigma 30-lens down). I truly appreciate the how i can hang a lens carrier on the outside, which functions as a lens carrier or baby food carrier.

In addition...Now that i have a d7k and nikon f100, i can actually carry both bodies with a 24 1.4 on one and a 135 dc on the other. perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great camera bag, September 1, 2009

This is a well designed bag. It's stylish and doesn't look like a camera bag on the outside. I'm a 5'7" woman of average build and it doesn't look/feel huge on me like some of the larger camera bags do. It's feels very light and I could carry it all day. My Nikon D90 with multi-power battery pack fits nicely. It fits better without the battery pack, but the fit is still acceptable with it on. I only own 2 lenses right now, but it looks like it could fit 3-4 in total (in addition to the one attached to the camera). It's easy to configure the dividers on the inside to suit your needs. They have velcro on them and they'll stick anywhere you want them to. There's handy pockets on the sides, in front, a mesh pocket on the inside of the flap, and loops on the sides to clip things to (things you could clip to a belt). The velcro silencers are nice, but I would only use them when it's actually necessary, because you shouldn't grab the bag by the handle unless the bag is closed, and it's just more convenient to have the velcro automatically close it rather than dealing with the buckles.

4.0 out of 5 stars good photo bag, September 11, 2009
By
Generally it is a very nice photo bag, which is built up with fashion design and nice materials. But it is a little bit small, 6 million is high enough to put in a XSi (450D) with a 70-200 f4L. If you want to put in one body + 3 lenses, it could be too crowded. My suggestion is to get the 7 million, it is not big at all. However, it's a little expensive.

3.0 out of 5 stars nice bag... a few flaws, June 30, 2011

i like the 6 mdh. it's very well made, doesn't scream "camera gear!" and breaks in pretty nicely. you can customize the compartments inside the bag to suit your needs. for many people this will be an excellent camera bag. now, the reasons i've docked it two stars:

first, two construction issues that are annoying: the pockets in the front of the bag are kind of worthless. you can throw a few extra CF cards, a cord, maybe a pen in there, but when your bag is filled with gear the front pockets are compressed so much you can barely access it. i realize the design cuts down on bulk as you don't have a big pocket hanging out there, but it's not terribly useful as a result. second, the strap does not have clips where it joins the bag that allow it to rotate. in other words, every time i pick this bag up the strap is twisted and i have to untwist it before putting it over my shoulder. this is annoying.

those problems i can live with. this problem, not so much: the padding on the bottom of the bag, after about 8 months of use in my case, is pretty compressed, thin and, quite frankly, insufficient if you have a long lens mounted to your body. if your bag is full, meaning that your lens goes all the way to the bottom and your camera is snugly held in place when you close the flap on top, there is very little room for the bag to give in order to absorb impact, and the padding on the bottom is not good enough to handle the job. i learned this the hard way. now i keep cushioned material on the bottom of the bag to avoid further problems, but to be honest it's kind of destroyed my faith in the bag. if you can live with this (or if you shoot mostly primes or shorter lenses... or if you don't mind taking longer lenses off your body before putting everything in the bag) then this bag may be for you. but i'd have a tough time recommending it simply because of this issue alone.

this would be a pretty easy fix for crumpler - replace the padding on the bottom with a material that resists compression over time and is better suited to absorb impact. i'm not saying you should be able to drop this thing off the roof of your house. but your gear should be safe from the bump and grind of every day carry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Photobag of the moment, January 14, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is now my third shoulder style photo bag and fourth camera bag overall. I own a Domke F-4 AF, Courierware Photobag, and a Lowepro backpack style camera bag. They were all great bags when I first got them and they all got good usage out of them. I'll continue to use the Lowepro since you can't beat it for comfort but I wonder if I'll ever use the other shoulder bags again.

The Crumpler 6 Million Dollar Home has got to be my favorite out of the four I own. It's a stylish, well designed photo gear, it uses my favorite colors (brown/orange), and it's the perfect size. Initially I had the 4 MDH and that was definitely too small for me so I returned it for the 6 MDH. The 6MDH allows me to bring just enough gear and not more than I need. This makes the bag quite packed on long trips but it also saves my shoulders from any soreness after being out for 8+ hours a day being a tourist.

On my most recent overseas trip I packed a Nikon D80 attached with a 12mm-18mm lens, a 50mm lens (which hardly got used), the 18-135mm lens, some cleaning supplies, and a spare memory card. The camera was easy to reach but I did have to dig around a bit to get to the lens and cleaning supplies when I needed them. Since those were rare occasions this didn't bother me at all that the bag was so snug.

The material Crumpler uses is really top notch and I feel that with regular usage that this will last and hold up for quite a long time. It'll probably outlast my desire to want the next flavor of the month.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great camera bag but..., December 11, 2010

GS216 (Hatboro,PA) - See all my reviews
Bought this camera bag 3 months ago & like most Crumpler bags, the quality & workmanship is excellent. Built with high quality nylon & strong large zippers, the interior is also excellent & the velcro is the most stickiest I've seen so far. My only gripe on this bag is when you are using it in actual practice. It is not a large bag (6 Million) but the way it is made,it is really bulky & you have to watch & be careful not to hit anybody or the bag hitting something. Being a shoulder bag, it would be mostly laying or located on your side so this might present a problem in tight spaces. Secondly, I wish Crumpler would make the next generation of these bags with an additional adequate cover on the top, once you open the top main flap/cover, all your gear are exposed to dust & prying eyes/hands so it is also a protection issue. Hopefully someday they can put a cover with a zipper or even a velcor closure for additional cover and/or protection. I would still recommend this bag on the basis of it's high quality & looks (not your typical black camera bag) but with caution.

I am a new DSLR owner and wanted a bag that did not look like a standard photo bag. I have had several messenger bags (mostly Timbuk2). But since they did not make a photo bag, my search led me to Crumpler. I am very impressed with their quality. I like the velcro silencer since that does bug me at times. However, I do like it when I am in crowded places like downtown Chicago. Price was a little high at retail, but good deals at [...]!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice to Have, October 26, 2011

What I liked about this bag... materials are made of good quality, stylish and specially it doesn't look like a camera bag, which means you can discreetly bring your camera without announcing you have an expensive equipment inside the bag! What I don't like about the bag... it doesn't have enough padding at the bottom to support the lens; very expensive for a small bag!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Right like Goldi Locks and a Great bag you get what you pay for and for, July 20, 2011

I looked at Cumpler, Kata, LowPro and others.

On my first Attempt I went with a too larger Kata bag based on opinions and sizing info Kata 3N1-30. Its Huge. There are smaller -10 and 20.... Kata which is also a very well made bag. More carrying options but at a cost of extra straps (it does both Sling and back pack).

After going over board on the large Kata. I really tried to figure what I needed size wise. I have a Canon 70-200 F4 L (what pushed me out of my smaller old basic Camera bag). A Tamron 17-50 2.8, A Sigma 530 DG Flash. Both Lens Hoods (The Canon one is Huge). Of course you can reverse it and leave it on but it is not desirable. Spare Bats. A Remote for the Camera. Some Micro Fiber. Camera Charger and my Rebel T2i, and a blower. I wanted a choice to have either Lens on the Camera in the Bag.

Like most Bags you have to configure with dividers (or none at all if you want). All the million bags are fancy messenger style bags so that your bag does not scream camera steal me. The 6M is a modest size bag about 30 percent larger then your average basic Camera bag. With this size bag I currently have set up mainly as a double decker with the bottom level my other Lens, the 70-200 Shade and the charger and the Body with 70-200 on the top Layer. Flash is in Front pocket. There are also side pockets and a inside Cover pocket I have other stuff in.

Bag Closes with both Velcro and Straps. You can silence or cover the Velcro closure with a built in velcro silencer for stealth bag use, though I like the Velcro basically auto closes the bag fairly securely. The bag is very comfortable and well made. It has a padded flat Bottom so it will not spill or tip. And the rest of the bag is padded. Like all companies they make larger and smaller versions. The next size up the 7 gains about 2 inches in Width, an inch or so of height and fraction of depth. There is also an 8 and a Bazillion, and of course you can go smaller.

Not that you really need it but there is no manual or how to guide but the bag is uber simple.

I have a Nikon D90, and an assortment of lenses. I don't generally NEED to carry everything I own with me. So if you're like me, and need something that holds a lot but still is manageable, this is perfect. I can fit the body, battery grip, 16-70mm 2.8 lens, external flash, memory cards, a 50mm, 35mm, some other minor equipment. As for the price, it was $30 cheaper when I pulled the trigger on this, and even then I thought it was a little steep. It's a quality bag, and I don't think you're going to do much better than crumpler, aside from maybe an even more expensive bag from timbuk2 and others. Strap is comfortable, compartments are adjustable. If you can get over the price tag, all I can say is, i'm happy.
