Editorial Reviews

Once again, Crunch has produced another terrific workout tape. An enthusiastic teacher who is wonderful at reminding you to keep your navel in and your back flat, Nancy Popp leads this sculpting class. Throughout the video, Nancy reinforces how you should be holding your body for maximum results and so you won't hurt yourself, and she's careful about explaining proper form for each of the exercises. Don't be put off by the Master Class in the title: This is a challenging workout, however, and it is a well-rounded one that you can perform at your own pace. It's great fun, too. The 57-minute workout has three sections (plus, of course, warm-up and cool down): lower body, upper body, and abs. A set of weights is necessary for the upper-body workout. Unlike other Crunch tapes, this video has steadier camera work, so it's easier to follow the movements of the exercisers. This is definitely a tape that you'll enjoy working out to, and it will leave you happily sore the next day. --Jenny Brown

4.0 out of 5 stars Good workout, January 1, 2000
This review is from: Crunch: Master Class Sculpt [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I like this video because the exercises feel really effective, and they are interesting enough to make me look forward to working out with this tape. It works the muscle groups one at a time, and covers legs, buns, back, abs, chest and arms. It's a good alternative for those of us that can't afford a gym or fancy equipment but want to do toning exercises. One set of hand weights (2-5 lbs.) are recommended for the upper body workouts. One negative point that the video is a little long (about an hour) although the time flies. Another problem is that some of the movements seem a litle awkward, especially the ab exercises. But the legs, buns, and chest sequences make up for that. Overall, I highly recommend this video.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very focused and definite results for the whole body!, April 4, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Crunch: Master Class Sculpt [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have been working out for many years and periodically buy new videos for variety. At first I was critical of the looks of the video (seemingly cheezy) until I did the workout regularly for a couple of weeks and realized that this was one of the best - complete body workouts I'd ever spent an hour doing. You don't kill yourself trying to do the work and are therefore pleasantly surprised to see the amazing results you get from a slow and focused, well explained routine. I've already bought it for a number of my friends who hate the thought of a frantic, panting workout. They love it too and you should see the results!

5.0 out of 5 stars Deserves Every One of the 5 Stars, May 23, 2000

I remember Nancy Popp from the ESPN Fitness Pros program and I'm very excited to see her again. I will admit that her outfit for the video is a little ridiculous, but the exercises are not. The first time I did the video I found myself drenched in sweat and really felt "the burn". She has a variety of exercises for the entire body and divides the time evenly between standing exercises and floor work. You find it hard not to enjoy her New York accent and the "Oh Ye-ahs". Unlike many videos, the camera is kept on the instuctor the majority of the time allowing you to see the full movement. The movements themselves aren't complicated at all, but you can feel them working.
