VERY EFFECTIVE,
By
This review is from: Crunch: Washboard Abs [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I am a fitness instructor, teaching kickboxing, Cycling and Step. I work my abs every day and have a hard time feeling my ab workout the next day. I actually bought this tape about a year ago and just hadn't had time to use it. Recently, I have incorporated it into my workout routine and absolutely love it. The moves are basic, but if you focus on how the instructor tells you to perform the move, you will really see results. I like the fact that she keeps reinforcing "navel into the spine." That makes all the difference in the world. If you use proper form, you will definitely see results. I have really seen a difference in the "definition" in my abs and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in getting those "Washboard Abs."

Half an Hour of Abs!,

This review is from: Crunch: Washboard Abs [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I realize that some people think that this work-out is too easy, but I have found it to be a pretty good 30 minute work-out when I concentrate on my motion and alignment. While I wouldn't say that I have "washboard abs", I am definitely stronger and happy with my purchase. The video is easy to fit into my schedule and you don't need much physical space for it. The length allows me to do it after running or combined with another video. Also, being able to do the workout in a small space is key to anyone living in a small apartment! Lastly, I find this to be a quick-moving video without a lot of explanation --if you are a beginner, I wouldn't recommend it. However, it is great if you are at an intermediate level because you don't have to wait during explanations that you have memorized after watching the video five times.

Nice workout,

Well, I have quite a way to go until I have washboard abs like the instructor of this video, but I'm trying! This is a great video, suitable even for beginners (seems to be on the beginner to intermediate levels). The instructor uses old "tried and true" ab exercises, as well as some fresh new ones. All in all, a great workout and lots of fun!

I don't know what the the reviewer below was writing about, when s/he lamented that there were not enough crunches. The entire video, with the example of the brief warm up comprises soley a variety of crunches. I love this vidoe because it makes the dreaded crunches accessible for me, by making them fun and giving good terms to visualize proper form. I don't have the motivaiton to do as many when I don't use the video. With the exception of belly dancing, I hate stomach exercises, because too many videos and use positions in which it is dificult to keep correct form in as I grow tired, or the form is never well defined. In exercise, form is everything. It makes sure that you exercise muscles properly - very important for abs because bad ab form can translate to thicker abs, regardless of the number of crunches. Good form also prevents neck and back strain. The positions that the instructor, Terry, gvies on this video tape make the exerciese fool-proof, and I have never strained anything doing this video. I do feel tighter abs after the workout. And right now I am in pretty good shape (from long distance running, Bikram yoga, belly dancing, and occasional pilates), so that I don't always benefit from work out videos. However, when I first purchased this tape, many years ago, may abs were fairly neglected. Yet I was able to finish the tape, and amazed that a half hour of ab exercises had passed by the time that I finished my thevideo, as I had grown to dread ab exercises, particularly crunches, becuase I associated them with bad back and neck pains, regardless of how much I tried to keep good form. True, Terry does talk alot, but she does not stop the program to do so, and I feel that the dialogue makes the time pass quicker, even after having heard it hundreds of time. It's too bad that this is not available in dvd because my copy is geting shabby. Also, because the tape is divided into three sections, excluding a warm up and cool down. Therefore, if you don't feel that you have time for the entire tape, or if you want to refine a group of exercise (after all these years, I am still not sure if I am doing the last exercise in the last group before the cool down correctly - the reason why I did not give the tape a 5), then you could just play one section, but it is so much trouble with video tapes to fast forward until an isolated section is ready to play; particulalry when you are shor on time. Also, I thought the music could be more motivating, but music tastes are very subjective. Sometimes I play my own in the background.

Way to easy!,

This has to be one of the easiest videos I have ever done. It was far to simple for me to even get a good workout from it. I did it once and I gave it to my mother. If you want a good abs video try an Abs of Steel tape or Keli Roberts Abs and More. These will give you a workout!

This is without a doubt the easiest video I have ever done. I did it one time and then gave it to my mother. The workout is far to simple for someone at even a low intermediate range. I did the whole workout without feeling a burn once. I was in the low intermediate range when I bought this video. I recommend Kathy Ireland's Absolutely Fit for a better quality and workout.

Great Ab Work,

Every time I do this video, my tummy muscles (all of them) feel absolutely wonderful -- tight and strong. This video offers fantastic mid section work, a lot of which I had never seen before. To top it all off, the music is great which makes the workout even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Burn, Baby Burn!,

The warmup is a little hard to follow, but the actual abdominal section works wonders. If it has been a while since you've done abs, you'll definitely be sore the next day. This is also an excellent tape to do if you want to maintain the definition you might already have. I would have given it 5 stars, but it lacks lower abdominal work. There is one section but it is very short. Overall, it is still one of my favorite tapes that I do every weeknight! :>

I've had this tape for a while and I really love it. The exersizes are effective and fun. I like to mix it up with shorter abs workouts; so I do Washboard abs about 2x a week and 10-minute tapes on other days.

Some people may say that this video is too easy. I thought it was great. Terri is a great motivator when you're ready to give up. As an abs beginner, I thought it was just right.
