Part Robotics, Part Prehistoric Pet
Cruncher's exaggerated features and striking details help to captivate a young imagination. His big eyes, pointed teeth, colorful skin, spiked collar, and stout feet with large black claws enhance Cruncher's tough, ornery image. Small wheels under Cruncher's belly enable him to move quickly and are synced with his arms and legs to enhance the animation of his movements. Cruncher's head swivels left to right while his jaw opens and closes, and his soft rubbery neck stretches and wrinkles with each movement.

Cruncher's durable construction out of soft and hard plastic help to protect electronic components and ensure that he will endure longs hours of physical play. Cruncher is powered with five C batteries that are inserted on the underside of his belly next to the on/off switch. Rubber-coated surfaces on the wheels, feet, and tip of the tail help to keep this four-pound Prehistoric Pet upright during his animated play.

Make Cruncher Dance, Catch, and More with Command Collar
Speedy movements, snapping jaws, and flailing arms make Cruncher a formidable friend. Although he has a mind of his own, Cruncher's command collar can be used to select between different modes of play and to control his movements and actions. There are eight available play modes ranging from playing catch to dancing to following verbal commands.

The included fish "chew toy" is designed to resemble a prehistoric fish skeleton and can be "fed" to Cruncher by placing it into his snapping jaws. Once inside his mouth, Cruncher will either chew on it with chomping jaw movements and crunching noises, or he'll giggle and drop it then back up, rear up, and open his mouth for a game of catch. If music is played or hands are clapped while Cruncher is in the dance mode, he will perform a series of lively moves in time with the sound.

Cruncher comes with a detailed owner's guide, complete with a section on training tips written in a tone directed at young owners. The range of behaviors, with lively motion and expressive sounds, is broad enough to keep young children entertained for sustained periods of time.

I actually have no little kids in the house (mine are all grown now). I bought this guy as a goof, and for something my dog would play with. He absolutely goes crazy every time I "fire" up Cruncher. This thing is absolutely unbelievable... It is interactive, and after a while you believe it is real yourself...so funny. I can't wait to have grandchildren so they can play with Cruncher, but until then, me and my male Yorkie will have a blast goofing around with him. Seems durable, but I would not let little ones play with it unsupervised.

My daughter is 4 and loves Cruncher. We bought it for her a few days ago and its been a fixture in the living room. The range of movement is impressive for a toy of this size and although it looks a little intimidating in the box the toy's demeanor is pleasing to kids. Overall the toy is a hit.

I selected this toy for my 5 almost 6 year old son. Cruncher is a fun but very involved toy and takes some time to understand the many, many things he can do. Be warned the toy is not supposed to be near stairs, water, played with on a table top or taken outside due to the electronics involved. Also doesn't work well on any kind of carpet or rug.

Gave this to my daughter for her 4th birthday. She discovered him at a nearby retail store, which had him in a working interactive display for aprox. 6 months, starting around christmas buying season.

I love this toy, and so does she, but it's not perfect.

Coool design, great sounds, fairly interactive.
Seems durable thus far, and offers lots of options for playing.

At four, my daughter's big on petting it's head and making it fart.
I'm so proud.

little extras that were programmed in, like having it whine and grunt when knocked over, until it falls asleep, are just... cool.

Goes into sleep/hibernation mode quickly when left alone, and we've been surprised when "waking" him by walking past more than a few times.

And it drives the dog crazy, an additional bonus.

Negatives (and they're not all that negative):

Not thrilled with it's tracking function. Doesn't always seem to come to the source of the noise, as it's supposed to do.

The four button control panel (for want of a better term) on it's collar can be confusing.
"Press the third button from left to do a trick, then press the 2nd button to have it talk during the trick..." huh?

There've been a few times when I'm simply not clear where we're at, mode-wise.
And I'm reasonably bright.

But overall, it's a big winner in my house.

My twin boys are 7 (and have Autism). Santa brought them Each a Cruncher. We weren't sure if they would be overwhelmed or not but they LOVE LOVE LOVE them! It's like having a pet! They interact and talk to him all the time which is always a autism challenge. Cruncher is always there for them - even though he is very loud! I love his accent when he says stuff like "I've fallen and I can't get up!". My 3 and 9 year old girls who are not Autistic also love Cruncher.
Another plus: the batteries have a long life!
I mentioned he is loud: as in very. There is no volume control other then off.

Bought this for my 3yr olds birthday. Was a bit worried when it first started up & my son was a bit afraid -that lasted about 4 minutes. He drags Cruncher around all day now and loves him. He's worked out what all the buttons do & likes to feed Cruncher etc. WOuld recommend.

I was so excited to give cruncher to my son for his 5th birthday. I was the coolest toy for all of 4 minutes before the sound board went out. They were unable to exchange it, but did refund my money besides the $13 restocking fee. My son and I were EXTREMELY dissappointed.
