5.0 out of 5 stars worth it, April 25, 2000
By A Customer
1. Crush With Eyeliner (album version) 2. Fall On Me(live) 3. Me In Honey (live) 4. Finest Worksong (live)

Not only isCrush With Eyeliner a great song, but the live version of Fall On Me is a must-have for anyone who likes the album version from Life's Rich Pageant. Me In Honey features Mike Mills' background vocals instead of Kate Pierson's (as on Out of Time). Finest Worksong is good also, although there is nothing particularly special about it. This cd is worth your money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crush with Eyeliner- Great Dance Song-Great Live Tracks, March 3, 2005
"Crush with Eyeliner" is a classic R.E.M. song about obsessing over a girl Stipe refers to as a "sad tomato." This is a great dance song with an underground beat that is equally at ease dancing in your living room alone or having 100 people in a club.

"Crush with Eyeliner" is a hot song by itself, but true R.E.M. fans know the energy, unexpectedness and new sounds that the band puts forth live; It is this that gives this CD its true value. This CD has live performaces of "Me in Honey" and "Fall on Me" which are more up tempo than the earlier recorded versions. Stipe's voice and the clarity of the music is amazing. "Finest Worksong" is still excellent, but sounds a little more like the album version (not the horn remix). Over all this is an excellent CD, especially if you are interested in the live tracks, but are not interested in owning/buying bootlegs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crush With Eyeliner... or Highlighter?, April 5, 2003
By
1) "Crush With Eyeliner". At first, the lyrics are tough to make out... but the more one listens, the easier to make out they get. Has a true, early 90s alternative sound... it's funny how a R.E.M. song that hints at angst is still somehow uplifting.

2, 3) "Fall on Me (Live)", "Me in Honey (Live)". It's easy to feel the energy, thanks to the laid-back drumming, Michael's soothing vocals, and the sweet southern style. *thumbs up*

4) "Finest Worksong (Live)". Document's opener... still stands to today as a brilliant work ("take your instinct by the reigns/better best to rearrange"). The Thoreau reference puts it over the top.

A proud moment for a proud band. It's not a mistake that they're so highly regarded.
